Ancient Mask of Possession Archetype [13/13]

This started with a Majora's Mask card, and eventually started to become a little archetype based around controlling your opponent's monster's minds, stealing their bodies and removing their souls (in the nicest way possible).

This archetype is designed to shut down decks that run off single attributes, mainly aimed at meta decks (try using Merlanteans when WATER monsters have no effects and can't attack). The pictures have probably been used a hundred times, but I really like the puppet pics.

I won't say I read them all, but from what I read, I really like the idea. Very similar to the Charmers and their Possessed counterparts. That being said, an entire archetype of monsters that can't be destroyed by battle is a major turn off for me. It is annoying to face, and is frowned upon as a whole.

The other effect of the Possessed Souls (the Tributing to do something, not the Summoning of the Fusions) is also interesting and fun.

Mask of Possession is overpowered. Infinite creature stealing is downright bad design. This card should be able to be destroyed by battle, as it is pointless to have that effect on it when it will be equipped most of the time anyways. It shouldn't just Special Summon itself when the monster it takes is destroyed. The first effect is fine as a standalone, built in resurrection.

I like the Fusions, a lot. I suggest instead of making the effect on the Lv. 1's, just make the fusions have

1 Possessing Soul of _____ (Corresponding Attribute) + 1 _______ (Corresponding Attribute) monster equipped with "Ancient Mask of Possession"

 

Summary: Find an alternative to not being able to be destroyed by Battle. You could go with the Cloudian approach, forcing them to remain in Attack Position, or any other approach, really. Possession needs that very last effect removed. Fusions are amazing. Amazing idea.
