[TherriSingle] Forest Flautist!

Recommended Posts

I recently entered a 1v1 contest vs. Renegade, the requirements being to create a Spell/Trap/Monster that supports Gemini. I had made two Gemini support cards, and decided which one I should enter. This is the card that I decided against, so I figured I would post it here! The other card can be viewed in the 1v1 Contest forum, so go and check it out! Cards should be up at any point now!

Without further adue, my card.

This card is treated as a Normal Monster while face-up on the field or in the Graveyard. While this card is face-up on the field, you can Normal Summon it to have it become an Effect Monster with this effect.
● Once per turn: You can banish 1 monster from your Graveyard to target 1 face-up Gemini monster; that monster is treated as an Effect Monster, and gains its effect.

I'll be honest: when I read the name, I imagined its effect having something to do with forest life or something (inb4Plants). With that I was kinda disappointed, but it's whatever, XD

As for the effect itself, at first glance it looks somewhat similar to Gemini Summoner's effect, except without the ability to Normal Summon a Gemini Monster from your hand.  Then I realized the difference, and with it a benefit: simply treating the target as an Effect monster without having to Normal Summon it allows it to dodge a number of counters, such as Bottomless Trap Hole and Solemn Warning. The cost for the effect is decent as well, nothing too steep or too easy.

I have to disagree with something King said here.

While the effect is something SORELY needed for Geminis, the cost is...not good. WHile I can't say it's completely bad, to use this card multiple times would demolish your Grave (thus removing Supervise targets), and Banishing monsters just isn't something Geminis are equipped to compensate for at this point in time. That's my only real issue with it, but like I said things like this are desperately needed to help Geminis speed up some.

I really like this card! It'd work great with Blazewing or Supervise, and allows your other geminis to get their effects, possibly leading up to shenanigans with Gigaplant or Evocator. Nevertheless, it seems pretty balanced to me. In fact, you could probably bump up the ATK to 1800 so that it can survive on the field longer.

Thank you all for the reviews! It actually makes me happy when someone takes the time to give a---

Any who--- It was a near direct rip from Future Samurai, but instead of destroying, it grants effects. I realized it was a slower Gemini Summoner without LP loss, but it does get past those things and benefit from Gemini Support, like Spark/Supervise/etc.

A combo that comes to mind would be to use Herculean Power to SS this, Normal Summon another Gemini, and Supervise this girl, making the Supervise basically hit two targets at once while also making future turns include having Gemini Monsters instantly Effect Monsters provided she survives. I wanted it to be better then Summoner in scenarios, while remaining to the preference of the player on which they choose.

You knw, when I said my piece about the Banishing thing, I didn't evne think of Future Samurai. I haven't ran it in a build for so long it kinda slipped my mind. Maybe you should make a Gemini that allows for the re-use of Banished ones, would certainly make them a bit more fearsome. Kinda like that Thundering Dragon card I saw you post in another thread. Konami really does need to make things like this though, Geminis didn't get much support in the way of actual speed. I mean sure, I can get them out well enough, but I can never set up with their effects well enough. This is a step in a very good direction.

Thanks again for the review!

Thundering Dragon was made after this card but I didn't even think of this card while making it. Rather fearsome, I think I'll consider adding some banished Gemini Support! Thanks for the suggestion!

Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. I need to go molest that thread with comments now.
