magemeek22
The Osmosis Archetype Created by Magemeek22 Now I don't know if everyone'll like this concept, but an osmosis-based deck would be, in my opinion, beyond fantastic. However, before delving into the contents of my newly-created cards, I may as well start with an assertion of what osmosis is and how it works, as well as how I incorporated it into this set of cards. Well, basically, osmosis is the diffusion of water through a semi-permeable membrane until the concentration of particulate on both sides of that membrane are equal. For those of you that didn't get what I just said, osmosis is basically water moving from side to side until its concentration is balanced. So what exactly does that mean for this archetype? What elements of osmosis have been incorporated into these cards? Osmosis involves balance. To utilize this element, the monsters of this new archetype are built off of one fundamental aspect: maintaining the same amount of monsters on your side of the field as your opponent controls. If your opponent has more monsters than you, you can Special Summon "Osmosis" monsters from your hand without the slightest cost. However, if they possess fewer monsters than you, you must reciprocate by removing monsters from your side of the field and returning them to your hand. Osmosis is a perpetual process. Osmosis never ends, and there are no time constraints on when and where it occurs. Hence, the monsters of my archetype are free to summon themselves regardless of whose turn it is. Balance is key. Osmosis can be reversed. By the process of reverse osmosis, particulate can be removed from water. Likewise, in this archetype, there exist ways to get rid of monsters in an equally elaborate and chaotic fashion. So there you have it, the fundamentals of osmosis and, as a result, this deck. Now, as far as the specifics of my archetype are concerned, there is a lot of repetition and fluidity. The components are as follows: 6 Level 4 "Osmosis Droplet" Effect Monsters w/ 1200 ATK and 800 DEF 1 Level 6 "Osmosis Droplet" Effect Monster w/ 1200 ATK and 800 DEF 5 "Osmosis" Spell Cards, composed of 1 Field Spell, 2 Quick-Play Spells, and 2 Continuous Spells 3 Rank 4 "Osmoform" XYZ Monsters w/ 2400 ATK and 2400 DEF Now, on to the cards!
The "Osmosis Droplet" Monsters (Level 4) All of these monsters have 1200 ATK and 800 DEF. Additionally, they all share similar card effects. Foremost, each card reads: During either player's turn, if your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. If your opponent controls fewer monsters than you, return face-up "Osmosis" monsters you control to your hand until you have the same amount of monsters as your opponent or you control no more "Osmosis" monsters. Thus, each monster can be Special Summoned at any point from your hand so long as your opponent controls more monsters. However, if you control more monsters than your opponent, you must return "Osmosis" monsters to your hand until the amount of monsters is equal or you simply cannot return any more monsters to your hand. Second, all of the "Osmosis Droplet" Level 4 monsters have special effects that activate when summoned.
Osmosis Droplet Corrosium
During either player's turn, if your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. If your opponent controls fewer monsters than you, return face-up "Osmosis" monsters you control to your hand until you have the same amount of monsters as your opponent or you control no more "Osmosis" monsters. When this card is Summoned: Return one card on the field to its owner's hand.
Osmosis Droplet Eradicatum
During either player's turn, if your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. If your opponent controls fewer monsters than you, return face-up "Osmosis" monsters you control to your hand until you have the same amount of monsters as your opponent or you control no more "Osmosis" monsters. When this card is Summoned: Destroy one card on your opponent's side of the field.
Osmosis Droplet Gargantose
During either player's turn, if your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. If your opponent controls fewer monsters than you, return face-up "Osmosis" monsters you control to your hand until you have the same amount of monsters as your opponent or you control no more "Osmosis" monsters. When this card is Summoned: Add one "Osmosis" card from your Deck to your hand.
Osmosis Droplet Invulnum
During either player's turn, if your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. If your opponent controls fewer monsters than you, return face-up "Osmosis" monsters you control to your hand until you have the same amount of monsters as your opponent or you control no more "Osmosis" monsters. When this card is Summoned: Target one monster on your opponent's side of the field. That monster cannot be used as XYZ Material or Synchro Material and cannot be tributed.
Osmosis Droplet Revivium
During either player's turn, if your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. If your opponent controls fewer monsters than you, return face-up "Osmosis" monsters you control to your hand until you have the same amount of monsters as your opponent or you control no more "Osmosis" monsters. When this card is Summoned: Special Summon one "Osmosis" monster from your deck or Graveyard.
Osmosis Droplet Slythe
During either player's turn, if your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon this card from your hand. If your opponent controls fewer monsters than you, return face-up "Osmosis" monsters you control to your hand until you have the same amount of monsters as your opponent or you control no more "Osmosis" monsters. When this card is Summoned: Special Summon one "Droplet Token" (Aqua-type/WATER/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) to your opponent's side of the field in Defense Position.

The "Osmosis Droplet" Monster (Level 6) This one monster is unique in that it doesn't follow the "Special Summon from your hand" mechanic nor does it follow the "return to your hand if you have more monsters than your opponent" scheme. In fact, this monster is exactly what its name makes itself out to be: a parasite. It switches from one side of the field to the other, depending on what side has more monsters, and then returns other monsters on the field to their controller's hand every time it changes control. It's complicated, but it has potential. Plus, it can be easily summoned using the effect of "Osmosis Droplet Revivium."
Osmosis Droplet Parasidium
Change control of this monster to the side of the field with more monsters. When control of this card changes, its new controller must target one monster (except this card) on their side of the field and return it to their hand. If they cannot, banish this card.

The "Osmosis" Spell Support These cards are pretty simple. One fundamental aspect that most of these cards utilize is the "Droplet Token" facet. By summoning tokens to the opponent's side of the field, these spells enable you to Special Summon more "Osmosis" monsters. In addition, the field spell is particularly useful since it allows you to XYZ Summon with "Osmosis" monsters on your opponent's turn, thus completing the whole "Osmosis is a perpetual process" element.
Osmosis Hypobolia
While there is a face-up "Osmosis" monster on your side of the field and you control more monsters than your opponent, instead of returning "Osmosis" monsters to your hand, you can Special Summon "Droplet Token"(s) (Aqua-type/WATER/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) to your opponent's side of the field in Defense Position until they control as many monsters as you do. When 3 tokens are Summoned by this card's effect, destroy this card.
Osmosis Buildup
When an "Osmosis" monster is Summoned, add 1 Spell Counter onto this card. You can remove 2 counters from this card to Special Summon 1 "Droplet Token" (Aqua-type/WATER/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) to your opponent's side of the field in Defense Position.
Chaosmosis
Activate only if you control a face-up "Osmosis" monster and your opponent controls more monsters than you do. Your opponent must return monsters from their field to their hand until they control as many monsters as you do.
Reverse Osmosis
Special Summon as many "Droplet Token"(s) (Aqua-type/WATER/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) to your opponent's side of the field in Defense Position as possible. Monsters you control cannot attack this turn. During the End Phase, your opponent can choose to destroy any number of "Droplet Token"(s) on their side of the field.
Osmosis Chamber
Once per turn, you can add one "Osmosis" monster from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, during either player's turn, if your opponent Summons a monster, you can Special Summon one "Osmosis" monster from your Deck. You can XYZ Summon during your opponent's Main Phase using "Osmosis" monsters as XYZ Material.

The "Osmoform" Rank 4 XYZ Monsters These are the trump cards, the cards you NEED to make to win with this Deck. After all, 1200 ATK monsters really don't cut it when it comes to the current meta; however, these 2400 ATK beatsticks should fare pretty well. In addition, they each have very individualized effects that make them extremely potent and powerful if used correctly.
Osmoform Abominatum
2 Level 4 "Osmosis" monsters While this card has XYZ Material, whenever an "Osmosis" monster is summoned or destroyed, add 1 Spell Counter onto this card. Once per turn, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card to remove all Spell Counters from this card and deal 500 points of damage to your opponent for each Spell Counter removed by this effect. This card cannot attack the turn you use this effect.
Osmoform Elysium
2 Level 4 "Osmosis" monsters You can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card to add 1 "Osmosis" card from your Deck to your hand. During the End Phase, Special Summon "Droplet Token"(s) (Aqua-type/WATER/Level 1/ATK 0/DEF 0) in Defense Position on your opponent's side of the field equal to the number of XYZ Material you detached this turn from this card.
Osmoform Poseidium
2 Level 4 "Osmosis" monsters Once per turn, during either player's turn, if you control fewer monsters than your opponent, you can detach 1 XYZ Material from this card: return 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field to its owner's hand.

Well, there you have it. Please read through these cards and tell me what you think! I feel like its a really cool concept, but if you find my execution lackluster, tell me! Constructive criticism is much appreciated! l0c0amp
Seems really good. Almost done, but i have a question. How are you supposed to deal direct damage to your opponent if they have no cards on their field? You'd be dragging the duel out way longer than it needs to. magemeek22
@l0c0amp Well really, the whole point of this Deck is to get the XYZ Trump cards out - the creatures. Once they're out, there are a series of paths that you could take. You could summon more Osmosis monsters or you could just keep the XYZ monster and have it dish out damage. However, now looking back, I do see a potentially disastrous problem: if the XYZ Monsters have "Osmosis" in their name, they can be returned to the hand by the effect of the Osmosis Droplet monsters, which isn't good at all. I'll fix that immediately and change the name of the XYZ's to be "Osmoform __________" so that they stay on the field and allow for the player to actually attack their opponent. Plus, Abominatum can deal effect damage as well. Thank you for your advice, and I'll be making the mentioned changes ASAP!
magemeek22
Changes made: XYZ Monsters changed from "Osmosis Creature"s to "Osmoform"s so that they are unaffected by the return-to-hand clause on the "Osmosis Droplet" monsters.
Cobalt2
I've actually played this game. XD Actually a really cool archetype, but does seem to drag the game on. Really wish they could do more burn damage or had some lockdown/negation effects... Also, Ojama Trio = All the lulz
magemeek22
Okay, so the following changes have been made: Added the field spell "Osmosis Chamber" (I forgot to upload it before). This is an immensely powerful and fundamental part of this Deck, and without it, XYZ Summoning would be immensely difficult. @Cobalt_000: I agree; burn damage would be great for this Deck. Would 500 points on each of the Osmosis Droplet monsters be too much though? How would you guys like to see burn damage incorporated onto these cards? Cobalt2
Yeah, I think a monster that burns for 500 for each Osmosis Droplet would be fine. Maybe you could add that on Parasidium...
magemeek22
I'd rather not add it on Parasidium though just cause his ability is already pretty debilitating. I'll add the burn damage to a portion of the level 4 droplets though; that should work.
