Descent of the Guardian

[Trap / Normal]

Activate only when a monster you control is destroyed by battle by a monster with 2500 or more ATK. Halve the battle damage you take from the battle; Then, Special Summon 1 Synchro Monster from your Extra Deck whose ATK is equal to or less than double the battle damage you took. It's effect(s) are negated.

Probably terrible, but I had to get it down before I forgot it.

I find that it is a bit too situational to be good. It's fairly balanced the way it is, since it's a SS, it means you can't get it back afterwards, since it negated, it basically makes it only a beater, or doing some addtional Synchro Summoning, though most modern decks don't really have many monsters with 3000 or more, it's more in the range of 2500-3000 instead, so if you lowered it to say 2500 or more instead, I think it wouldn't be half bad, though I doubt it would see much use still.

It is moreso the fact that most of the time you will only suffer around 1100 or less when hit by a 3000 monster, and what are you going to Summon aside the weakest Synchros that would make running this card worth it? Perhaps make it less then or equal to twice the amount of battle damage, and take Zazu's suggestion.

His title says Runs White Hole. Situational ftw :P

Perhaps if I lowered the necessary ATK needed by an attacking monster to activate this card to 2500, as Zazu suggested, and made the monster's ATK have to be equal to or less than twice the battle damage you would have taken?

Bad, but easily fixed. The main problem it faces is that it requires your monster needs to be destroyed, meaning you have some ATK to lower the Battle Damage on top of the fact you halve that Battle Damage. Wgatever monster you summon won't do anything worthwhile especially with no effect. In fact, it would be really rare those situations where you can summon a synchro with a worthwhile effect! It would be best if your range of monsters started from an ATK equal to or less than double the sustained Battle Damage, otherwise you can only summon weak stuff most of the time. As others have said, 2500 Atk is more realistic than 3000.
