Ignis avis
My Samurai Set, CC is welcome flaming is not blah blah etc. Still working on a few of the members of the archetype. Cards to be released: Samurai who adds a Sword Technique from your deck to your hand when summoned. Samurai who can be sent to the graveyard to stop the destruction of another samurai. More to come... | |
Once per turn: You can target 1 card in the Spell & Trap Card Zone; reveal that target, and destroy it if it is a Trap Card. (If it is not a Trap Card, return it face-down.)

Once per turn: You can destroy 1 defense position monster your opponent controls, this card cannot attack the turn you activate this effect.

If you control a face-up "Samurai" monster with a different name, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). This card gains 100 ATK for each other "Samurai" monster you control. You can only control 1 face-up "Samurai - Shiga".

During your standby phase put 1 Arrow counter on this card. You can remove any number of Arrow counters on this card to destroy a monster whose DEF is less than or equal to the number of Arrow counters removed x 500.

Cannot be Normal summoned, or Set. If you control 2 "Samurai" monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). While this card is face-up on the field, "Samurai" monsters you control cannot be destroyed by battle.

You can special summon this card by banishing 1 "Samurai" monster in your graveyard. Once per turn: You can Special Summon 1 "Samurai" monster from your graveyard instead of your normal summon.

Add 1 "Sword Technique" card to your hand.

Activate only when your opponent declares an attack. Target 1 monster on the field, it loses 500 ATK, if you control a face-up "Samurai" monster it loses 800 ATK instead.

Target 1 face-up "Samurai" monster you control. That monster can attack twice this turn.

Target 1 monster your opponent controls, it's ATK becomes 0 , and your opponent takes no battle damage from battles with that monster until the end of the turn. If you control a "Samurai" monster you can activate this card the turn it is set.

Activate only when your opponent declares an attack. Switch the battle position of 1 face-up monster on the field.
Amanea
To start, I really am a fan of the artwork. Its solidarity of style really makes the set feel more connected. Okay, artist's critique done. "Double Strike" sounds a little bit overpowered, as there is no drawback or condition other than controlling a "Samurai" monster, which really is not a condition at all with the swarming potential of this deck. I would suggest adding a clause: "During the turn this card was activated: Other monsters you control cannot declare an attack." That would provide some counterbalance, and to complement that, I would make it a Quick-Play Spell to hit with unpredictability. "Ocean Wave" feels a little bit disconnected from the rest of the archetype, independent of "Samurai" monsters completely for its effect. I really enjoyed the dual effect of "Azalea Deter" and "Light Edge", and I think that it would be great if you incorporated a similar addition into "Ocean Wave", such as: "When this card is activated: You can discard 1 "Samurai" monster to have this card's effect become: "Switch all monsters your opponent controls to face-up Defense Position, also their Battle Positions cannot be changed until your next End Phase. (Flip effects are not activated at this time.)" I think that would work well with the effects of several of your "Samurai" monsters that take advantage of Defense Position monsters. "Ishikawa" has a nice feel, a bit more conditional back row hater than is mainstream, who punishes the majority of Set cards anyways. I just wish that he would have a little bit of connection to the rest of the archetype. I love how "Mie" and "Yahiko" work in tandem with "Ocean Wave" to destroy opposing monsters with some actual, interactive effort. That's refreshing. To make "Yahiko" a little bit more usable, I would consider upping the requirement to x 1000 the number of Arrow Counters, or allowing him to use his effect during either player's turn (or both! c:) I like "Hanako"'s balance between Summoning condition and protection effect, but I feel that such a limitation on viability of Summon calls for a little more ATK! And if it concerns you, there's just a few inconsistencies with the wording. "Bamboo Training" does not specify from where a "Sword Technique" card can be added (i.e. Deck, Graveyard, etc.). "Nihon" should state instead that "You cannot Normal Summon the turn you activate this effect". Target clauses and cost clauses should be separated by a ";", and activation clauses by a ":". Non-cost repercussions such as in "Mie" are just separate sentences. I'd love to see this archetype develop. I'll be watching! c:
Ignis avis
Thanks. I'll be going through the cards to fix their OCG, and rework a few of the cards.
