Gemini Mage

I'm not currently able to use my computer, so I am using YuGiCo right now, even though I really dislike to do so, since it looks like crap. This card also supports my other card Gemini Slug.

When this card is Normal Summoned while you control a Gemini Monser: You can have all Gemini Monsters gain their effects, also they're treated as Effect Monsters. Once per turn, if you control no Gemini Monsters: You can target 1 Gemini Monster in your Graveyard; Special Summon that target, then change this card to Defense Position, also change all Gemini Monsters to Defense Position (if able). Once per turn, this card cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects while you control a Gemini Monster.

BALANCE
Behold, Queen Dragun Djinn's sister, and a justified savior of Geminis who have all but fallen into complete disuse. Before putting her to shame for possessing such an array of powerful support, it must be realized that Geminis don't have much elsewhere to turn. The limitation of being Normal Summoned to help a Gemini means that said Gemini is faced with surviving the opponent's turn or being Special Summoned by another Gemini Mage (or any generic tool, like Call). Alas, to overcome the infamous speed, or lack thereof, that Geminis are known for, the player must ... wait. As for the repercussion of the second effect, well, it isn't. Basically, you get a free monster, then you get to change this card to Defense Position, where it can safely wade through the opponent's turn with its handy self protection. Sure, there is a condition; however, as it is designed, either one effect will be applicable, or the other will be.

FLAVOR
Gemini support is intriguing to begin with. I was a smidgen disappointed at such a lengthy effect that doesn't give the player a choice between costs and effects, but rather restricts nearly free effects by conditions. Of course, that's not a bad thing, per say, as conditions are more than a part of the game. I can't help but see Gemini Elves in Mage's name and sportive look, which is probably just coincidence. Either way, the picture does definitely have a magical air about it, working well in tandem with the rule-bending assistance that she offers to accentuate her wizardly symbolism. Her outfit reminds me of a much saner Dark Necrofear, and much more hug-able.

UTILITY
This card alone could have the potential to revive Gigavise and Doomvise Decks. Replacing the slower Call of the Haunted with three of these, and perhaps cutting back on Silent Doom or Swing of Memories, could open the possibility of running Black Luster Soldier in Doomvise Decks. Other than that, I don't see it being too applicable. Geminis on their own have no overarching direction, so most other attempts at a pure Gemini Deck, regardless of support, are not likely to become workable. In the scarce few decks that can use Mage, she would be a great boon.

ADJUSTMENTS
An easy way to clean up the costs would be to have the Gemini Monster be changed to Defense Position instead of Mage herself, as a counterbalance for the second effect. I'm a little iffy on the self protection, as well, since its condition is just about rendered null with her aforementioned ability. Perhaps a more integrated shielding: "Once per turn, if this card would be destroyed by your opponent's card (either by battle or by a card effect): You can banish 1 Gemini Monster from your Graveyard; this card is not destroyed." That way, there is an actual cost rather than a virtually nonexistent condition. I'm not too sure about the OCG, either. (I haven't looked at cards with a similar effect, but the first part doesn't sound right.) I think it might be, "When this card is Normal Summoned while you control a Gemini Monster: You can Normal Summon all Normal Gemini Monsters you control."

Thanks for the well thought out review. I can see your points, it can become pretty powerful. And I actually don't mind that it changes the Gemini Monster instead. I don't really think the banish is what I'm looking for. If you take a look at the other card "Gemini Slug", then you will see that they support each other. I'll change a few things around, since I can see where you're coming from. About the OCG, I used what other cards that give Gemini Monsters effects use, so I assume that's right.

EDIT: Alright, I changed it up a bit. Is this fine the way it is now?
