SushiTheLegend Posted March 16, 2008 Report Share Posted March 16, 2008 [align=center]Following the creation of the Rulings & Guidelines thread, I or rather the Graphics Moderators will now be on the lookout for members who can become part of the Unofficial Site's GFX Team, which will remain unofficial until it becomes official by YCMaker. This team will be known as The Graphical Lords or something better and will be pretty much lead by myself and Elemental Hero Remix. As an Unofficial Site GFX Team Member, you will not receive any kind of powers, you will simply merit yourself as a part of this site's designers, all applications must be posted in this thread and will be reviewed by me and informed if you have made the spot, we are only looking for a maximum of FIVE members and all applications must follow the guidelines below. 1) What Time During The Day Are You Most Likely To Be Online? (Include Your Time Zone) 2) What Is Your Graphical Experience? (Say How Long You've Done Graphics For) 3) Examples Of Your Work. (Please Provide 3 Of Your Best Pieces Of Work) 4) Why Should You Become A Member Of The GFX Team And How Will Your Help The Graphics Section? If I understand correctly, the program is one of two things, and each has a problem. 1. You're proposing to get a bunch of people together in an attempt to make new skins for the site and increase its visual appeal. PROBLEM: Unless you get some PHP maniac who is ALSO addicted to Yu-gi-oh to join, this will never happen, because it takes a ton of custom coding to skin, and it's no easy task. This is why IPB skins go from $30 to $50 each. 2. You're proposing to get a bunch of people together to do free graphics for people. PROBLEM: This completely screws over both the shop system due to the lack of people going to shops since this'll be free AND the members participating because they will shortly lose any and all time for anything else other than graphics. Thus, they will have to resort to using diapers and public humiliation to continuously be working for random and impossible banners with stupid requirements for some extremely marketing-brainwashed 10 year-olds they'll never meet. Either way, this whole thing fails. Better idea: Have the Graphic Artist Club pick some of its prestigious members, give them a private forum such as the mods have, require maybe 3 community service graphics from them a week, and call it good. BETTER IDEA: Have a Graphic Designer club. Give the good/experienced GFXers a private forum with the unexperienced ones working their way toward it, have them have events among themselves and for the general population, award achievements for certain things, give them a spiffy usergroup and let it grow from there. You simply fail for suggesting something which is outside of my power, I am merely trying to work with what I can, because the whole "Usergroup" and "Events" like SOTW and such is what I want to do, well SOTW was suggested by someone else, but even still, it is what I want to do given time, the graphics populace here is so small, thus it requires time, so when you've finally realized that then you'll stop with this ranting. One more thing, if people are implying I am trying to destroy shops then you are dead wrong, a GFX Team for the site doesn't stop people from going to shops as shops tend to provide things that GFX Teams don't do, on top of that it doesn't appear like there will be a GFX team, if that becomes the case then it just won't happen. And actually I may not have worked with IPB skins, but I have messed around with IF skins, and I've seen brief parts of ZB skins, so I'm not a total idiot you know, as for the graphics being free, already nobody has listened to the fact you need to wait till I've finished the request guidelines and even then nobody will follow them, so why charge for it, some people aren't complete jerks and don't mind making graphics without charging points. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Anyway, following certain events that have taken place, I have asked that this thread be locked and I will no longer continue this GFX Team idea as it is now obvious it just isn't the right thing to do.[/align] Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

(Include Your Time Zone) Um... about 3:30 to 6:00 and then 8:00 to 9:30 (all times are PM) and my timezone is +4 2) What Is Your Graphical Experience? (Say How Long You've Done Graphics For) Um.. i have started about a year but then stoped after 3 months due to computer breakdown and then started about 4-5 months ago. 3) Examples Of Your Work. (Please Provide 3 Of Your Best Pieces Of Work) i'm sorry but photobucket isn't uploading but i promise that i will have the other 2 soon. 4) Why Should You Become A Member Of The GFX Team And How Will Your Help The Graphics Section? (Explanation Must Be At Least 1 Paragraph Long) i have suggested the SOTW and i have other projects which i believe all the active peopleof YCM's GFX Community. I believe if i'm given a chance i can help members here to improve at graphics since i can do many things like sprites, banners, avatars, booster packs, custom images and much more. i can also make weekly and monthly contests which will make members improve. (Explanation Must Be At Least 1 Paragraph Long)I am one of the best graphic designers on the forums. my work is normaly top quality and most newer graphic designers look up to my work. right now im make a tut to help other members know more about photoshop. As i go off to college i will learn more about photoshop and i will happly shair that with members. I think ill be a great member for the GFX team.
