Okay, whoa. There's a huge OCG error in the first part of the card. Let me point it out for you.

Okay... Targets it with what? An attack? A monster effect? ANY effect? Their FINGER?

"Negate the attack" Wait, what...? Guess it's an attack, then. "and destroy the attacking monster, then activate one of these effects:"

 

Okay, the problem here is you didn't specify what the targeting is. It should go like

"Activate only when a face-up "Dark Magician" or "Dark Magician Girl" you control is targeted for an attack: Negate the attack and destroy the attacking monster, then activate 1 of these effects:

• Special Summon 1 level 4 or lower Spellcaster-Type monster from your deck.

• Add 1 Spell Card from your Graveyard to your hand."

 

 

With that said, it's time to review the effect.

I'll admit, I kind of like it. It's rather generic, and it's kind of overpowered when you think about it - but the upside is that this card can only activate during a VERY specific time, and is prone to destruction beforehand. That, combined with the fact that it's specific to Dark Magician only, makes this card... Relatively balanced. Currently, Dark Magician decks aren't really all that powerful, so this card can help out with that. You'd just better hope your opponent goes in for an attack, instead of wiping your backrow!

Very conditional like a counter trap should be. The effect is sweet, but could be sweeter if you can Special Summon DM or DMG (or even Magician of Black Chaos) with it. Good work.
