Lord Ursus
The Memory Requiem The year is 2008. A young, uncertain and past-wise haunted boy is sitting completely alone in a room, trying to come up with some wicked new idea for a card set on yugiohcardmaker.net. He frowns a bit. The cards aren’t especially great; his grammar, heavily influenced by Norwegian, and creativity being on the underdeveloped side is hindering them from being perfect. But there is something… his, about them. At school he is desperately lonely, his family is breaking apart and a duality of suppressed skill and dark thoughts is what fills him. The cards had to do with the past. It was very lightly decided, but after a while, the young Lord Ursus came to realize these cards meant more to him than very much else. An obsession to be fair, and continually he added new cards to the site, stranger than the next, hoping for someone to acknowledge something about his skill as a Card Maker, or really… acknowledge him at all. The story goes on, the cards develop, as do the creator himself. It is eventually listed once as “one of the most epic sets on the site”, so my children become a part of my identity and pride on the page that evolves to contain a little circle of friends. A philosophical voice inside me and an impromptu need to mature makes sense of the world through these Memory cards. I am starting to create my own life’s philosophy: “Every piece of your past, every skill learned, memory endured and emotion sustained is the foundation and building blocks in every human’s aim to evolve, to build and to live a stronger life. At the death knell of your past, the forever perishing present and the great looming uncertainty of the future, build yourself a monument of human suffering and conquest. Your memories are a requiem of something and the renaissance of the very same. Arise, Memory Requiem!” -Moi What I present today is the final version of the Memories. They have evolved long since being first released, as have I. They are now called the Memory Lords, each given their set of emotions and representing different abilities. There are twelve total, two of each Attribute, a couple of support monsters and two absurdly powerful “Flagships” of the Divine Attribute. Now I know, Divine makes them seem unrealistic, but both to preserve a certain aesthetic display and because my life philosophy has grown entwined to my Christian faith, they are Divine Attribute. This is a reflection of my heart and soul, and more a story than a card set. Preliminary notes: I apologize in advance for my off OCG. None of these artworks are mine to take credit for. I will remove them at once given the wish of their creators, and I thank you for your fantastic work. Rulings of Memory monsters: · Memory monsters are always treated as Level 0 · Falling outside the norms for Normal Summoning or Setting that Level 1 or higher monsters abide by, they can only be Summoned as is pointed out on the card itself. · The Level of Memory monsters can never change

Memory Sovereign LIGHT Fairy / Memory ATK 2000 / DEF 2000 Effect: “Cannot be Special Summoned. You must Tribute 1 "Memory Lord" monster to Normal Summon or Normal Set this monster. This card must be Normal Set face-up. This card gains the effect(s) of the Tributed monster. This card cannot be destroyed by Card Effects. During your Standby Phase, if this card is in your Graveyard, return it to your hand.” Philosophy: This card symbolizes a memory taking control of your life. Living in the past is a dangerous occupation, and once inside its clutch, it is very difficult to escape from. Trust a man just out of a 10-month heartbreak session. What is important is to take the small victories one at a time, not compromise your life, find joy within yourself and not be afraid to move on. Memory Angel – Hakathiel DIVINE Psychic / Memory ATK 5000 / DEF 5000 Effect: “Cannot be Special Summoned. This card requires 5 Tributes for its Normal Summon. Negate the effect(s) of all non-Memory monsters on the Field. Once per turn, you can send 1 "Memory" Card in your Deck to the Graveyard to Special Summon 1 Memory monster from your hand or Banished Zone.” Philosophy: This card symbolizes one of the things that really held me alive during my dreadful childhood. Having some arbitrary force I knew protected me gave me the strength I needed to puppet a smile and carry on. I am a proud protestant, my love for love is what makes me the person I am, and that force given to me through prayer and friendship makes any other trouble seem insignificant. It has helped me collect my building blocks quicker than much else. The artwork was made especially for me on request by JadenKaiba of deviantart.com some while ago. Memory Guide DARK Fairy / Memory ATK 0 / DEF 0 Effect: “You can Set, but not Normal Summon this card. When this card is destroyed, send 1 "Memory" Card in your Deck to the Graveyard. While this card is in your Graveyard, apply the following effects: * During your Standby Phase, place 1 Remembrance Counter on a face-up "Memory Zone" you control. *You can discard 1 card to send 1 "Memory Guide" in your Deck to the Graveyard.” Philosophy: Memories need an introducer, and this card represents just that. Just about anything can set off a Memory, and throughout life you will meet many situations, people or otherwise that make you remember parts of your life long after the incident. What comes after is the real challenge.

Memory Lord – Ashamed LIGHT Psychic / Memory ATK 0 / DEF 0 Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, return 1 "Memory" Spell or Trap Card from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand. Whenever this card or another Memory monster is Banished, inflct 800 damage to your opponent and gain 800 Life Points.” Philosophy: Shame is always centred on certain memories, causing them to resurface and sting repeatedly. The trick is to allow yourself to heal, adapt and accept your fault. Some times more important than being forgiven is forgiving yourself. Memory Lord - Despairing WATER Psychic / Memory ATK 0 / DEF 0 Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, you take no Battle Damage until your next End Phase. Both players take Battle Damage from battles involving this card.” Philosophy: Despair is the hopeless feeling that drowns you in darkness. Dwelling in despair, or depression, is like fumbling through a thick fog, slipping every so often on uneven terrain. Despair is a feeling that can often drag those around you down with it. At first it is so easy to isolate yourself in it, but remember those of you that can help you onto your feet. There is always a light. Memory Lord – Envious LIGHT Psychic / Memory ATK 0 / DEF 0 Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, take control of 1 face-up monster your opponent controls for as long as you control this card. That monster cannot be destroyed while you control it.” Philosophy: The human being is driven by desire. Envy is the psychological voice that speaks on behalf of what you feel is missing. It is perhaps the most common of the negative emotions, and whether it be money, abilities or something else you desire, envy can and will override common sense. A lesson in humility and constant positivity is what is needed to overcome envy. You will always lack something, but you will find you have so much to protect otherwise. Memory Lord – Fearful DARK Psychic / Memory Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, skip your opponent's next Battle Phase. Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 Memory monster from your Banished Zone.” Philosophy: Fear is a paralyzing emotion. I grew up with a demon of a father; being around him was like being trapped in a dark room full of snakes, because you just knew, that if you broke the silence… Fear also has the ability to bring out so much more in a person. Confronted with fear, anger, despair or even hate can recur, and until you find a way to destroy the fear itself, they will just keep coming back. Find courage in yourself to stand your ground, use the support of your friends and what else gives you power and root up your horrors like weed. Memory Lord – Grieving WATER Psychic / Memory Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, your opponent discards 1 card. Once per turn, you can destroy 1 Memory monster you control to Special Summon 1 Memory monster from your Deck.” Philosophy: Grieving comes naturally as you lose something you love. The first period is the worst. Then comes the rest. Sorrow is said to come in phase, each tearing at you until you learn to engraft your sorrow into your life. One can never promise that the pain will go away, but one day far into it, you will wake up and find it is as natural a part of your life as is brushing your teeth. Memory Lord – Hateful WIND Psychic / Memory Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, destroy 1 face-up monster on the field, other than this card. Increase the ATK of this card equal to the ATK of the destroyed monster, until the End Phase. This card inflicts Piercing Battle Damage.” Philosophy: Hate is the single most destructive emotion in the world. It is also temporary, impulsive and easy to retort to. Learning to deal with opposition without retorting to savagely attack it is a skill to behold. Given time, sensible thinking and no small amount of love, hate can be overcome. Never forget though, how near it lurks. Memory Lord – Hopeless WIND Psychic / Memory Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it..When this card is Summoned, destroy 1 Spell or Trap Card on the field. Memory monsters cannot be destroyed by battle.” Philosophy: Hopelessness is a lack of vision. A purely psychological vision, I’ll grant you, but a vision of how things can revert to the better. This is a difficult one, because as much as your friends can help you, you yourself must find the means to cut through the hopelessness that seeps through everything else around you. Memory Lord – Lethargic EARTH Psychic / Memory Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, switch all other face-up monsters to Defense Position. Level 4 or higher monsters cannot change their Battle Positions.” Philosophy: Ever felt a lack of energy? Or a lack of will for getting out of bed and do something productive? One thing is for certain: if you do not do anything about your situation, it will not improve, so find your strength and a light that can lift you up and beyond. Memory Lord – Lonely EARTH Psychic / Memory Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, you can put 1 target monster on the bottom of your opponent's Deck. If your opponent controls no monsters, increase the ATK of this card by 2500.” Philosophy: Loneliness can create loneliness, because it is so quick to forget those you have around you. As a Christian, I never truly believe myself to be alone, but the majority of you might not share this state of mind. Hold fast, keep strong and stay close to your friends, even if you lose sight of them. Memory Lord – Longing DARK Psychic / Memory Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, Banish 1 Memory monster from your Deck. Your opponent cannot select another Memory monster you control as an attack target. This card gains 800 DEF for each Banished Memory monster.” Philosophy: We all desire something; either a new job, something material or perhaps a special someone to fill the void in your life. In my experience, Longing can quickly intercept what else bothers you, making the rest of your emotions swell up behind the veil of it. Try to look past your longing and focus on the real problem. If you’ll have to blast right through it, make sure you have the means. Memory Lord – Raging FIRE Psychic / Memory Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, both players take damage equal to the number of Level 1 or higher monsters they control x 600. If this card is destroyed: destroy 1 monster on the Field; inflict damage to your opponent equal to that monster's ATK.” Philosophy: There are few things that clog up the mind more efficiently than rage. Rage is swift and dangerous, and can quickly scorch those around you just as badly as yourself. If have no count for the number of years I’ve spent combating my anger, but in the end I’ve managed to take control of it. What remains is patching together the damage you’ve caused in the meantime. Memory Lord – Suffering FIRE Psychic / Memory Effect: “Cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. If this card is sent to the Graveyard, Banish it. When this card is Summoned, it gains ATK equal to the number of Banished Memory monsters x 500, until the End Phase. If you would take damage, increase the ATK of this card by that amount, instead.” Philosophy: Suffering is here perhaps represented vaguely. It is meant to resemble your mind’s reactions to the terrible things you encounter when it results in drawn-out and insurmountable agony. Suffering draws power from your past and fuels power into what hurts you. Remember that which heals you, and supports you. You will undoubtedly need them or it sooner or later. Memory Requiem DIVINE Psychic / Fusion / Memory ATK 0 / DEF 0 Effect: “Can only be Special Summoned from your Extra Deck by shuffling 12 Banished Memory monsters into your Deck (You do not use “Polymerization”). If this card attacks, nothing can be activated until the End Phase. When this monster attacks: send all cards your opponent controls and in their hand to the Graveyard; increase the ATK and DEF of this card by 1000 for each card sent this way. If this card is removed from the Field: return it to your Extra Deck.” Philosophy: Every piece of your past, every skill learned, memory endured and emotion sustained is the foundation and building blocks in every human’s aim to evolve, to build and to live a stronger life. At the death knell of your past, the forever perishing present and the great looming uncertainty of the future, build yourself a monument of human suffering and conquest. Your memories are a requiem of something and the renaissance of the very same. Arise, Memory Requiem!

Memorize Normal Spell Effect: “(This card is always treated as a "Memory" card.) Special Summon 1 Memory monster from your hand or Banished Zone.” Memory Awakening Normal Spell Effect: “Draw 1 card. While this card is in your Graveyard, you can Normal Summon "Memory Lord" monsters, ignoring their Summoning Conditions.” Memory Contact Quick-Play Spell Effect: “Discard any number of cards, then return the same number of "Memory" Spell or Trap Cards from your Graveyard to your hand.” Memory Domain Normal Spell Effect: “When this card is activated: Add 1 "Memory Zone" from your Deck to your hand. While this card is face-up on the field: Field Spell Cards cannot be activated, except "Memory Zone". "Memory Zone" is unaffected by Card Effects. You can shuffle 1 "Memory Zone" from your hand into your Deck; Special Summon 1 "Memory Lord" from your Deck. During the turn this card is destroyed: Field Spell Cards cannot be activated.” Memory Force Equip Spell Effect: “Equip only to a "Memory Lord" monster. When the equipped monster attacks a Level 1 or higher monster, if its ATK is lower than the attack target, switch the ATK of the battling monsters. When the equipped monster battles, if you control "Memory Zone", place 2 Remembrance Counters on it.” Memory Stream Continuous Spell Effect: “Whenever a Memory monster you control is destroyed by a Card Effect: add 1 "Memory" card from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand.” Memory Suppression Quick-Play Spell Effect: “Discard 1 Memory monster; Special Summon 2 Memory monsters from your Deck. Skip your next Draw Phase. While this card is in your Graveyard, "Memory" Spell or Trap Cards cannot be negated.” Memory Zone Field Spell Effect: “Each time a Memory monster is Banished, put a Remembrance Counter on this card. Apply the following effects based on the number of Remembrance Counters on this card: * 0+: Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 Memory monster from your hand. * 3+: Once per turn (including the opponent's), whenever you would take damage, you can negate it. * 6+: The attacks and effects of Memory monsters cannot be negated. * 9+: Once per turn, you can Special Summon 1 of your Banished Memory monsters. *12+: During your Standby Phase, gain Life Points equal to the number of Remembrance Counters on this card x 100.” Psychoanalysis Quick-Play Spell Effect: “(This card is always treated as a "Memory" card.) Activate only while you control "Memory Zone". Destroy 1 face-up monster for each Memory monster you control. Put 1 Remembrance Counter on "Memory Zone" for each monster destroyed this way. You cannot attack the turn you activate this card.”

Amnesia Grip Normal Trap (This card is always treated as a "Memory" card.) Effect: “(This card is always treated as a "Memory" card.) Target 1 Memory monster you control; equip this card to that target. When the equipped monster battles: if its ATK is 0: it gains ATK equal to the ATK of the opponent`s monster + 300 during Damage Calculation only.” Dark Memory Normal Trap Effect: “Activate during a turn 3 or more Memory monsters were Banished. Destroy up to 3 cards on the Field.” Flashback Camaderie Continuous Trap Effect: “Whenever a Memory monster you control is destroyed, place 3 Remembrance Counter on this card. You can remove any number of Remembrance Counters from this card to destroy a monster whose Level is equal to the number of Counters you removed.” I remember Normal Trap Effect: “(This card is always treated as a "Memory" card.) During your 2nd Standby Phase after this card's activation, Special Summon as many Memory monsters as possible from your Banished Zone.” Memory Void Normal Trap Effect: “Activate only when an opponent declares a direct attack. Discard 1 "Memory Lord" monsters to destroy all face-up Attack Position monsters on the field. If a face-up "Memory Zone" you control would be destroyed, you can Banish this card from your Graveyard, instead.”
With this set out, I finally bid you farewell, YCM. I have had a blast and some really great friends throughout my stay, but I am getting old and have different urges to attend to. I hope some of my old reviewers can see what became of this set, and that it can go down as once and for all, complete. Thank you for the memories. TheycallmeBrick
I took some time and remade these cards with the Card Maker featured on the site (with help from some photo editing), and made some Grammatical corrections while doing so. I also changed the names of the "Memory Lords", so that they would be nouns. This one's for you Ursus. Godspeed and all that. The card ideas are not mine, nor are the images used therein. Good job Ursus, good luck out there in the big world.
Lord Ursus
Thank you, Scary Face. :) That puts the average rating at 10,5 so far. I do believe I will be having a good time, as I start as private tutor, head of my own student organization, court a designated beauty in my year to blissful oblivion and finish my book. You know, the works. ;) Brick: Um, thanks for the edit, however their names are intentional. "The one who is Ashamed" and so on. Also, un-quotation-marked articles like Memory points to the sub-type of the cards, not the card title. Thank you for the rest though. It's been a while since I was up to scratch on the OCG or made cards at all. And thank you for the compliment and your wishes.
TheycallmeBrick
Oh, that's what those names meant. Sorry, that one was not very clear to me. My bad. And yes, I wasn't aware whether or not you meant the archetype or the actual type. Again, my bad.

Cocodomoco
I feel like my main criticism would be that imagine these cards against a reptilianne deck. all those 0 attack monsters on the field they would be able to summon so much and do a lot of damage. But i do like the cards a lot.
Lord Ursus
It would prove an interesting match-up no doubt. :) I have these cards in Oricas, and have loads of fun with them. Their convenient interaction with Gravity Bind and Level Limit Area B is laughably strong, so it has a decent match-up against any deck that focuses on monsters. I'm glad you liked them. :)
Cocodomoco
I tried PMing you but it didnt work. Anyway i googled Orica. Didnt know that existed. Im tempted now. Im sure this deck is a lot of fun to play with.
Lord Ursus
That's strange. Well, yeah... Oricas are awesome. Just make sure your cards are complete and that there are a consensus for it in your playgroup. This deck is like an extension of myself and does all the things I love to do in this game. I would recommend http://dev.mastersoftrade.net/products/ for making Oricas, as his services are easily the most affordable out there, and he's a stellar gem to customers.
