Card text
Cannot be Special Summoned or banished from the Graveyard. While this card is in the Graveyard; if the controller of this card would Tribute Summon a monster, they may banish non Zombie-Type monsters from their Graveyard (max 2) to fulfill the Tribute requirements of that monster.

This is an early alpha-alpha version of this card, which is to be part of a new "Teotl" archtype. I suspect it to change as the archtype develops. The spirit of the archtype is to bring back Tribute Summoning as a competitive method of summoning powerful monsters by making it faster and easier. The "Teotl" archtype is to also have a secondary "Anti Special Summon" theme to it, hopefully increasing the archtype's competitive opportunity.

Furthermore, as you may have guessed, the "Teotl" cards will be thematically represented by characters and beliefs of the Aztec religious tradition. "Teotl," an Aztec word, is commonly translated as "god" but more accurately may simply mean "mysterious" or "inexplicable".

Now, on to this card specifically:

  • There isn't much in the way of cost. This obviously may change as the archtype develops, but I'm wondering what your thoughts are as it stands in the current game. I feel there are a lot of ways this card could be abused, corrupting the original intention for more nefarious purposes. Let me know, so I can nip this thing in the bud.
  • The Lore needs some help. There weren't many precedents (that I am aware of), that I could use for guidance.
  • What do you think of the attribute, typing, stats, and effect in general? I was thinking of giving him some sort of effect on field, or treating him as a normal monster outside the graveyard, but I didn't want to overload the card with pointless secondary effects. I figure he could be stronger, but since he was meant to shine in the graveyard, I considered that to be rather negligible. I ultimately chose Fairy because that seemed like YuGiOh's closest approximation to godhood (well, besides Divine-Beast, but I wasn't about to open that sack of worms).
  • What's with the non Zombie-Type clause? Well, just a bit of added flavor, I suppose. Mictlantecuhtli was supposed to tear apart and devour the dead. I didn't think he'd have much of a taste for the undead.

i must admit, very nice picture and interesting eff... making it a dark-fairy is nice choice too. I would reword like this

This card cannot be Special Summoned or banished while in your Graveyard. While this card is in the Graveyard, when you would Tribute Summon a monster: You can banish non Zombie-Type monsters in your Graveyard (max 2) x the number of monsters normally needed for that Tribute Summon.

Thanks for the comments and edit, but if I'm understanding this right, we'd banish 1 monster for a lvl 4 or 5 monster, and 4 monsters for a lvl 7 and above? That's pretty drastic. Maybe it would be best to use "+" here, then the cost is more evenly distributed (banish 2 monsters for a single tribute summon, and banish 4 for a double tribute summon). Though I think that was your intention in the first place.

you didn't understand right :) lvl 4 doesn't require tribute, and it would be 1 banish for 5 and 6 and 2 for 7+

Whoops. Yeah, I meant lvl 5 and lvl 6, not 4 and 5.
