Dark Paladin Support - Just cuz

Now, I get it, the Dark Magician archetype is already so super duper powerful and OP with all the new Eye of Timeas support and stuff that adding new cards just might break the archetype as a whole *sarcasm*, but here's an interesting new support for the cards that started it all!

[spoiler='OLD CARD']

Effect:

If you control a face-up "Dark Paladin", you can banish this card from your side of the field, hand, Deck, or Graveyard. While this card is banished, all "Dark Paladin" monsters you control gain the following effect:
"During either player's turn, when a Trap Card is activated: You can discard 1 card; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. If you have no cards in your hand, you do not need to discard a card as a cost for any of this card's effects."

It's basically a card meant to allow Dark Paladin to actually do something once he's out on the field. Sure, blanket Spell negation is nice, but its both limited in scope and also hard to manage due to the discard-a-card cost (not too easy on Spellcasters, which for the most part have limited draw potential). So I made this card, essentially a way to make Dark Paladin both Spell AND Trap negate. That part I'm confident in. However, the last part of the card allows Dark Paladin to remove its cost when there are no cards in its controller's hand. This part is a little of concern. I realize that it sounds ludicrous, but at the same time, the Dark Magician archetype is in no way meta-worthy so I was thinking that one card being overpowered wouldn't hurt.

That said, there are several ideas I had for replacing the last statement. Instead of "If you have no cards in your hand, you do not need to discard a card as a cost for any of this card's effects.", I could potentially change it to something like:
  • While you control another face up Spellcaster-type monster, you do not need to discard a card to activate this card's effects.
  • If you have no cards in your hand, you can pay 500 life points instead of discarding a card for this card's effects.
  • If you have no cards in your hand, you can return 1 "Dark Cleric" from the banish pile to the Graveyard instead of discarding a card for this card's effects. A "Dark Cleric" moved by this card's effect cannot activate its effects for the remainder of the Duel.

I don't think it should be so easy to banish. Doing it from the Deck seems overkill, really, and it wouldn't be a bad card if it was from hand, field, or Graveyard, especially with Mathematician/Armageddon Knight possibilities. Also, the Infernity-esque blanket S/T Lockdown would be a tad absurd, but if it required you to control another Spellcaster I could see that being acceptable since it requires set up, and in this format, monsters are likely enough to be able to remove this card from the field without the need of back row.
