MayhemXYZ
I'm sure there are other cards like this, if not better already existing possibly. However, since I haven't seen them, I tried to make one. Lore: Once per turn, during the Main Phase, the turn player can activate the following effect by paying any multiple of 50 Life Points: Flip 1 face-down Defense Position monster (Flip effects are not activated) on the field; If its DEF is less than the amount paid x4, it is destroyed. If not, inflict twice the same amount on the player. This card can be helpful to both players. However the one who has cards prepared will have an advantage obviously, like ones that let you see your opponent's hand (The Eye of Truth, etc.), or what card he/she draws (Pikeru's Second Sight, etc.), or even cards that send monsters back to their hand (Compulsary Evacuation Device, etc.). Moreover, a card that flips other cards face-down (Book of Moon, etc.) would also help with this card. So I'd like to think it's useful in at least a few combinations. Finally, it has a cost so that the ability isn't simply abused. OCG corrections and CnC (Normal or Harsh) are appreciated. PS: Is the name any good? I'm bad with naming things. A1652471
Its a good name. I do, however find the wording of the effect very confusing. Maybe its just because I just recently got back into the game but I dunno. The name is awesome though.
MayhemXYZ
Thanks. The effect basically means: You pay an amount Life Points (that should be a multiple of 50, for calculations sake). Then, you check a face-down monster on the field. If that monster's defense is less than the life points you paid x 4, then it is destroyed. If it is more, than you take damage equal to 5 times the amount you paid. Ex. You paid 500 life points and checked my monster. It has a DEF = 1900. Life points you paid, 500 x 4 = 2000 > 1900. So my monster is destroyed. But same amount paid and my monster has DEF 2100 => 2000 < 2100. So you lose 500 x 5 = 2500 Life Points. And already you lost 500 Life Points to use the effect. So you lose a grand total of 3000 Life Points. Get it? Hmm, maybe I should lower the costs a bit? It seems to be a lot now that I'm doing actual math. =/
A1652471
I would lower it. Maybe you take double what you paid instead of such a high amount. Thats just one guy's opinion though.
MayhemXYZ
I suppose double sounds a bit more reasonable. Though I don't want it to be abused honestly. Edit: Alright, card updated to deduct twice the amount. What do you think about it now?
A1652471
It's more reasonable now. Also, I wouldn't worry about having it abused because if most people are like me (I prefer not to spend my LP on anything unless absolutely necessary) then they wouldn't use it. MayhemXYZ
I suppose. But then with the right combo, you can prove to be a pain to your opponent. Since you're destroying the monster and flip effects aren't being activated. Moreover, if all your opponent had was a/were face-down defense position(s) monsters, you can directly attack him then. Life Points can easily be increased with other effects.
A1652471
I agree. You made a card that I'd play with.
MayhemXYZ
Thank you. It means a lot to know someone would actually want to use my first 'Realistic' card.
