Zerovirus
My two favorite archetypes are Psychics and LIGHT-Machines (mostly just CyDrags these days). I also happen to be a fan of Gundam, and a core premise of Gundam are the Newtypes, a part of humanity which have evolved into psychically-superpowered ace mecha pilots. So, this is basically just unabashed fanservice for myself: an archetype of Psychic monsters which are used as Xyz Material for LIGHT-Machines. Just as a pilot enters their mecha to fight, the Psychic-type pilot monsters have to enter the Angengines- Xyz Monsters- to fight!
The Angengines (a portmanteau of Angel and Engine) all have specific traits. The Pilots are (almost) all LIGHT, Lv3 or Lv4, Psychic-type Effect Monsters and give effects to the Xyz Monsters they're attached to. The Mechas are (almost) all LIGHT, Rank 3 or Rank 4, Machine-type Xyz Monsters which only require a single Xyz Material (what mecha needs more than 1 pilot, after all?) to be summoned. The fact that the Angengines specialize in 1-material Xyz Monsters gives them a playstyle similar to Hieratics. Just as Hieratics create chains of special summons by tributing themselves, Angengines create chains of special summons by summoning a 1-material Xyz which has an ability to summon another Angengine from the hand, perpetuating a loop that's only limited by the number of Angengine pilots you've got. Angengines, therefore, share several playstyle traits with Hieratics, including a heavy beatdown-spam-focused playstyle. They've also got other tricks up their sleeves, though; their main deck can easily be combined with a classic Banish Psychics or an Overdrive Teleporter deck due to their reliance on low-level Psychic-type cards, and a few of the Angengine cards can be sprinkled into other decks like Rank-4 spam. As with Hieratics, Maxx C is a major threat to this deck.
Let's get into the actual cards.
Angengine Empress100/1100LIGHT Psychic Lv4When this card is Normal Summoned, you can Special Summon another "Angengine" monster from your hand. While this card is attached to a Machine-Type Xyz Monster as Xyz Material, that Xyz Monster cannot be destroyed by battle. You can only Summon "Angengine Empress" once per turn. The Angengine Empress is a core part of the Angengine summoning-engine. She's the generic 'pull another card out of your hand' choice for the Angengines. As a pilot, she grants the mecha immunity to destruction by battle. However, you can only summon her once per turn- mostly an upper limit on the shenanigans the Angengines can get off to than anything else, really. Angengine Princess100/1600LIGHT Psychic Lv4When this card is Summoned, you can excavate the top card of your deck, and if it is an "Angengine" monster, add it to your hand, otherwise send it to the Graveyard. If the Xyz Monster this card is attached to as an Xyz Material would be destroyed by a card effect, you can detach this card to negate that effect and destroy that card. The Angengine Princess is the exemplar of the other mechanism frequently used by the Angengines: Excavation. The Angengine Princess helps stock up the hand with other Angengine pilots for the Empress to summon. As a pilot, the Angengine Princess defends her mecha from destruction by card effects. Angengine Trailblazer100/1000LIGHT Psychic Lv3When this card is excavated by a Psychic-type or Machine-type monster's effect, excavate 2 cards from the top of your deck and treat those cards as if they were excavated by the same effect. While this card is attached to a Machine-Type Xyz Monster as Xyz Material, increase that Xyz Monster's ATK by 400 for each Xyz Material attached to it. The Trailblazer is one of the targets for an excavation performed by the princess! He blazes a trail into the deck, allowing even more cards to be excavated. As a mecha pilot, he grants his mecha increased firepower based on the number of pilots it has. The Trailblazer is also our first Lv3 Angengine, meaning he'll have a different selection of mechas he can pilot as the Lv4 Angengine pilots do. Angengine Marksman100/500LIGHT Psychic Lv3An Xyz Monster with this card as one of its Xyz Materials gains 800 ATK and has the following effect:Once per turn, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to destroy 1 Spell/Trap card on the field. The Angengine Marksman functions as a sort of S/T removal, turning Xyz Monsters into S/T removal units. Note that if the Xyz Monster she's attached to already has a detach effect, it now can activate two 'once-per-turn' detach effects in the same turn, increasing the burst-effectiveness of the monster. Angengine Navigator100/1100LIGHT Psychic Lv3If this card is attached to an Xyz Monster as Xyz Material, you can detach this card and discard 1 card from your hand to excavate the top 3 cards of your deck; add all excavated "Angengine" cards to your hand and send the rest to the Graveyard. If the Trailblazer blazes trails, the Navigator tells him to get started in the first place. The Navigator is one of the other ways that the Angengines use excavation effects, and it also serves as a way to get Angengine fuel into your hand for Empress to spend. The Navigator offers no tangible effect to an Xyz it's used to summon, though. Angengine Augmented400/300DARK Psychic Lv4You can Tribute this card to excavate the top 3 cards of your deck; if possible, Special Summon 1 Level 3 monster from those cards, then add 1 card to your hand from the remaining, then shuffle the remaining excavated cards back into the deck. The Angengine Augmented has an arguably better excavation effect than the Navigator, allowing a special summon immediately, but it suffers from several drawbacks. For one, if you Xyz with it, you can't use its excavation ability. For another, it's not a LIGHT monster, meaning that some of the Angengine mechas aren't compatible with it. Finally, since it only focuses on special summoning Lv3s, it isn't compatible with itself. Augmented requires you run a dual 4-axis/3-axis engine, which may reduce playability for some people. It's got 400 ATK, though! That's practically a beater in the world of Angengine pilots, most of whom only have 100. Angengine Twinborn50/200LIGHT Psychic Lv3 TunerWhen this card is used as Xyz Material or a Synchro Material Monster while your opponent controls more monsters than you, you can Special Summon another "Angengine Twinborn" from the deck. This effect can only be used once per Duel. The Angengine Twinborn is kind of a weird support. When it's used to summon an Xyz or Synchro, it finds its twin from the deck and allows you to make another Xyz or Synchro immediately, but only if your opponent controls more monsters than you. It's a once-per-duel thing, though; I mostly made the card due to fluff inspiration from the picture. Look at that 50 ATK, though. Isn't that just incredible?

Angengine Rhetiae1600/1800LIGHT Rank4 Machine Xyz1 or more Level 4 Psychic-type monstersWhen this card is Xyz Summoned, you can Special Summon 1 Level 3 or 4 monster from your hand. When this card attacks or is attacked, detach 1 Xyz Material from it. Destroy this card if there are no Xyz Materials attached to it. While this card is attached to an Xyz Monster as Xyz Material, that Xyz Monster inflicts piercing damage Angengine Rhetiae is easily the most important card in the Angengine arsenal. It allows you to immediately convert an Angengine in the hand to another Xyz on the field. With it and Angengine Empress, the default play of the Angengine deck becomes: >Play Empress, special summon any other Angengine from your hand.>Use Empress as material for Rhetiae, special summon another monster from your hand.>Make 2 more Angengine Xyzs, or make a 2-material Xyz, or even go for a Synchro if possible. In addition, Angengine Rhetiae can be splashed into Banish Psychics (one of my favorite decks), where it has great synergy with just about the whole deck. Note that Rhetiae destroys itself if it attacks or is attacked with only 1 xyz material. Almost every Angengine mecha has this drawback, to limit their spam-effectiveness. Angengine Girardium1500/1500LIGHT Rank3 Machine Xyz1 or more Level 3 "Angengine" monstersWhen this card is Xyz Summoned, you can Special Summon an "Angengine" monster from your hand. When this card attacks or is attacked, detach 1 Xyz Material from this card. Destroy this card if there are no Xyz Materials attached to it. The Girardium is the other core Xyz Monster of the Angengines. It does for 3-axis what Rhetiae does for 4-axis. Chaining Girardiums and Rhetiae together is what allows you to unload an entire handful of Angengine pilots onto the field in a single turn. You may note that neither Girardium or Rhetiae make for very good beatsticks. Girardium has it a little better than Rhetiae, because you can get the ATK-boost effects off of Angengine Marksman or Angengine Trailblazer and then stick a Downerd Magician on top of it to make a pretty solid beatstick, but otherwise they're not super-threatening in and of themselves. Angengine Exbant1300/2400LIGHT Rank-3 Machine Xyz1 or more Level 3 "Angengine" monstersYour opponent cannot target any monsters for an attack except this card. When this card is destroyed by battle, you can Special Summon an "Angengine" monster from your hand. Its effects are negated. Angengine Exbant defends the other Angengine cards. It's a tank that absorbs attacks, allowing the other, more fragile Angengine cards to avoid being attacked and destroyed. Plus, when Exbant is inevitably overcome, it allows you to Special Summon yet another Angengine monster from your hand! Angengines have a lot of hand-summoning spam. Their greatest weakness is the fear of running out of cards in the hand. Angengine Ultineras1000/1800LIGHT Rank-4 Machine Xyz2 Level 5 Machine-type monstersYou can also Xyz Summon this card by using any 2 "Angengine" Xyz Monsters you control as the Xyz Materials. (Xyz Materials attached to those monsters also become Xyz Materials on this card.) When this card is Xyz Summoned, destroy all other Special Summoned monsters on the field, and this card gains 700 ATK for each monster destroyed in this way. At the End Phase of each turn, destroy a Special Summoned monster, then increase this card's ATK by 700. Angengine Ultineras is the real boss of the deck. (Being a rank-5 machine, you can run it in Cyber Dragons as well.) Ultineras wipes the field of other SS'd monsters when it's summoned, and getting out 2 Angengine Xyzs is ridiculously easy with the Angengine deck. It gains power for each SS'd monster it destroys, meaning that you can feed it with your own Angengine cards, and if the opponent's field is totally wiped it can directly attack your opponent for some serious damage. Note, also, that if you use an Angengine Rhetiae as material for this card, Ultineras will be able to deal piercing damage. The problem with Ultineras, though, is that, since it destroys all other Special Summoned monsters when it's summoned, if you can't special-summon a monster after you make Ultineras, it'll destroy itself as the only Special Summoned monster on the field at your End Phase. Even if you feed it for your turn, your opponent can easily starve you by simply refusing to special-summon on their turn. Ultineras is a dangerous, powerful, but unstable weapon. Angengine AlciferLIGHT Rank-4 Machine Xyz3 or more Level 4 LIGHT-Attribute monstersWhen this card attacks or is attacked, detach 1 Xyz Material from this card. Destroy this card if there are no Xyz Materials attached to it. Once per turn, you can shuffle 1 card from your hand into the deck to excavate the top card of your deck, and if it is a monster, Special Summon it, otherwise send it to the Graveyard. Angengine Alcifer is the alternative boss-card of the Angengines. More durable, less flashy than Ultineras, and with an excavation ability that lets more Angengine combos potentially fire off. You could splash this card into other generic LIGHT rank-4 spam decks, like Satellaknights or Constellars or Hunders, as well.

Angelic Engine CeremonyField SpellAt the beginning of each of your Standby Phases, you can excavate cards from the top of your deck until you reveal an "Angengine" monster which you can Normal Summon. Special Summon that monster and immediately Xyz Summon using it as Xyz Material, and shuffle all other excavated cards back into the deck.Angelic Engine Ceremony is the consistency-card, guaranteeing that you can at least make that first Xyz which fires off all the other combos in your hand. Radiant Engine ArsenalCounter SpellDetach 1 Xyz Material from an "Angengine" Xyz Monster on your side of the field. Until the End Phase of this turn, it cannot be destroyed by card effects, and its ATK is increased by 1000. Most Angengines are only 1 Xyz Material away from self-destruction at any given point. Radiant Engine Arsenal sacrifices that single material in exchange for a boost in ATK and immunity to destruction until the end phase. It doesn't quite edge out Lumenize in terms of raw damage potential, but it serves a similar effect to Forbidden Lance and might be a viable replacement in Angengine decks. Relic Engine RecoveryNormal SpellShuffle 3 "Angengine" Xyz Monsters from the Graveyard into the Deck, and if you do, draw 2 cards. If this card is in the Graveyard, you can banish an "Angengine" Xyz Monster from the Graveyard; add this card to your hand. Relic Engine Recovery is the draw-power card of the Angengines. More importantly, though, it recycles spent Xyz monsters back into the extra deck, allowing the player to actually make more than a single play per duel. Prototype Engine Frame1400/800LIGHT Lv4 MachineIf you control 4 or more "Angengine" monsters, you can destroy all of them; Special Summon this card from your hand. If Special Summoned in this way, this card can be treated as any number of Xyz Materials of any level for the Xyz Summon of a Machine-type Xyz Monster. This card is mostly for overkill, but getting 4 Angengine cards on the field at the same time isn't impossible at all. And if you do? Superdimensional Galaxy Destroyer, Sky Palace Gangaridai, Gustav Max, whatever! You can literally Xyz Summon any Machine-type Xyz you want. How ridiculously cool is that? Seriously, though; any Xyz summoned with this card wouldn't be super useful, since it'd only have 1 Xyz Material and only be able to activate its effect once. Still, the Prototype Engine Frame is here just for the sake of hype. Angengine Solvigan2400/2000LIGHT Lv5 Machine TunerThis card cannot be Normal Summoned. You can only Special Summon this card if it is excavated by the effect of an "Angengine" monster, or by Tributing 1 "Angengine" monster while this card is in the Graveyard. Solvigan is the Wulf of the Angengine deck. He's completely useless in the hand, but if you manage to excavate him he's an instant beater, with solid ATK and DEF stats. You can also get him in the grave easily provided he's already on the field, since he's a Lv5 Tuner- and once he's in the grave, he keeps coming back as long as you have Angengines, making him an alternate way to spend your Angengine pilot cards if you're out of Xyz Monsters. There's probably a synchro loop in here involving a handful of Angengines, this card, and Level Eater, which would result in Quasar, but I'm not going to go to the trouble of figuring that out. Fluff-wise, it's probably the 'super-prototype-that's-ridiculously-strong-but-destroys-the-mind-of-the-pilot' stereotype, or something, due to its Tributing effect.
Right now, I'm thinking that the Rhetius/Girardium loop may be a bit too powerful. Should I give those 2 cards a clause along the lines of 'You can only summon this card once per turn'?
