Masked Duston[Help]

Recommended Posts

In all honesty, the Duston Spell/Trap Support is not all that great, and you have better search options (Where Arf Thou? for one.)

Hero Signal is "meh" in my opinion. It is relatively slow, especially in a backrow heavy/MST hate format. Do not expect to trigger it often.

Ojama Trio seems like a counter productive choice with Dustons (unless you run a burn variant utilizing Just Desserts and Ceasefire.) Dustons already can clog your opponent's side of the field with little effort.

Why no Reinforcement of the Army? It can search any of your Heroes when you need it, should you need it.

Cut back on a number of cards, as 44 will cause consistency issues (and lead to easier dead hands, and you want to avoid that as much as possible in a Deck concept such as this.) If you have the room, try to fit in more generic traps (Torrential for one) and/or Ceasefire, as they are great cards with Dustons that can really be a game changer. If at all possible, try to cut back on a few fusions (you really do not need that many different E-Hero Fusions, and some are better then others for the corresponding attribute.) On top of that, try to fit in a couple more generic Xyz.

I am really digging this Deck concept, and may have to try an idealistic build for myself (maybe something incorprating Piper and Kink-Byo I dont know..)

So what would you say the edit should be to get better consistency?

I recommend the following changes:

-1 House Duston (you only need 2 of each other Duston monster except for House Duston.)

optional: -1 Starduston (I am so so about Starduston. You have no reliable way of searching House, and the spell/trap support is pretty bad in itself, so I do not think you will need more then 1, especially in a Deck dedicated to stacked fields. Your call.)

-2 Duston Mop (It is not all that great. I mean sure you can equip it to your Opponents White Duston, but more often then not, your opponent wont force their MST on it to net you a free +1.)

-2 MST (These are one of those cards you either run at 3 or none at all. You already have a fusion that acts as a Harpies feather Duster, I think you can do fine withought the MST, but thats your call.)

+1 Reinforcement of the Army (Searches Shadow Mist or Bubble man. Pretty Self explanatory.)

+1 Where Arf Thou? (Searches House Duston, which you need to get onboard ASAP.)

-2 Hero Signal (Card is very slow, and easily vulnerable to Backrow hate.)

-1 Ojama Trio (I do not see the point in this card when you already have a series of mosnters that can clog your opponent's field..)

-1 Duston Roller (This card is worse then Mop. At least Mop's effect is continous lol.)

All in all, just try to cut back on a number of cards to maintain 40 card ratio.

o.O

Here's whatcha need to do.

Your Duston ratios are perfect, though 3 Starduston would be nice because he is really powerful, especially with another card i'll suggest you add later.

-2 Bubbleman: Don't need him. Doesn't matter if Shadow Mist will let you search it when sent to grave, you simply dont need him and can be running more consistency cards instead.

-2 Magicalized Duston Mop: It is unfortunate that this and Roller simply do not offer Dustons something they want: consistency. Dont run this.

-2 Miracle Fusion: Your fusion heros are taking up too much space that Dustons need in the Extra. Moreover, the Masked HEROs are really all you need to dominate with this deck.

-1 Super Poly: Same reasoning as above

-1 Duston Roller: This card is usually better than Mop because it can screw up their plays on a dime, but unfortunatley it really doesn't have a place in the Main. Siding it is definitely an option, though. If so, do 2.

-2 Hero Signal: You really dont need it that much. Especially with one of the additions ill be suggesting.

-1 Ojama Trio: This is really only OK in pure Dustons as a way to rack up more damage with Crime & Punishment. Masked Dustons dont need this.

+2 A Hero Lives: This will be much better than Hero Signal, though slightly more dangerous since you will be taking some Damage from House. Still, you can also discard these for Mask Change Second.

+2 Goblin King: No Duston deck is complete without at least 2 Goblin King, whether it's their main focus or not. He's not only an amazing beatstick after a House play, but if necessary you can Mask Change him into Dark Law.

+3 Stygian Security: If you're not running this, you've done something wrong. Searches House and King in optional Defense Mode.

+2 Shining Angel: Searches out House, though in Attack Mode, but you need to get him out ASAP.

+2 Anti-Spell Fragrance: This combos SOOO well with Starduston it isnt even funny. These two cards make a complete lockdown that can only be escaped through 2 very situational, situations. Even in times where you dont have Starduston, this can slow your opponent down much more than you, which is exactly what Dustons want.

As for the Extra Deck

-6 Non-Masked HEROS: You really only need the Masked HEROs for Maskedustons. These guys just take up space for doubles of the Masked HEROs you need, and the most important Xyzs for Dustons.

-1 Exciton Knight: Simply unecessary, if you were going to run any R4, you should be running SHARK.

+1 Number 13: Embodiment of Crime

+1 Number 31: Embodiment of Punishment

+1 Number 54: Lion Heart

+1 Masked HERO Dark Law: You have plenty of DARK targets, might as well have 2 of these just in case.

+1 Masked HERO Koga: This is Dustons' favorite Masked HERO, as if you MC2 a White or House after a House play, you get a 5000 beatstick.

+2 Downerd Magician: Just a good step-up for your Material-less R1s.

Since when is MST a 3 or 0 card? Most people run 2.

I'd probably put in a Baby Tiragon as well. its pretty much an Opticamoflauge Armor for your Kings/Stardustons, assuming you can find space for it.

Baby Tiragon is sub-optimal when you can just run Opti-Camo. Maskeduston dont need it, but if you can find space that would be ideal. Personally I'd knock the Form Change and Mask Charge for 2 Opti-Camos, but that card is often a personal choice, especially here when you have access to beatsticks so easily.

Form Change gives me a good Switch out when traps come against me e.i:Chain,Comp,Mirror,etc. It has helped me a few times, might run tigron over lion b/c I am drawing into too many dustons before I need to be. Might add Exod back in b/c of that. Updated by the way but recent match ups were harsh...
