98rbake
5 Level 4 Pendulum Monsters If you Tribute Summon a "Qliphoth" monster: You can detach 2 Xyz materials from this card; Special Summon, from your Extra Deck, 2 "Qliphoth" Pendulum monsters, and if you do you can conduct an additional Tribute Summon this turn. You can only use this effect of "Qliphoth Weapon" once while it is face-up on the field. If a "Qliphoth" card you control would be destroyed: you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead. "Qliphoth" monsters gain 300 ATK for each Xyz material attached to this card. *Changed to* 3 Level 4 Pendulum Monsters If you Tribute Summon a "Qliphoth" monster: You can detach 2 Xyz materials from this card; Special Summon, from your Extra Deck, 2 "Qliphoth" Pendulum monsters, and if you do you can conduct an additional Tribute Summon this turn. Delibirb
Well firstly, I think that while 5 Materials is certainly not outside the realm of possibility for Qliphoths, a simple 3-mat for this would not be a big problem. The effect is relatively lackluster, but that isnt to say it is bad. It does allow for more swarming in a single turn, and/or more opportunities to bring out Disc and Shell, and potentially that rumored Level 10 one. Knowing that is is swarmy, it was a good idea, I think, it make it a once while face up effect. The protection effect is much appreciated, especially because it can protect your Pendulum Scales as well as monsters. In the interest of flavor, I'd suggest a different name, though. Qliphoths' names have to do with computing and/or programming, so weapon doesn't really fit. Maybe try something like Directory?

The one thing I just remembered, is that you cannot special summon monsters other than Qliphoth monsters while you have Qliphoth monsters on the Pendulum zones, which pretty much stops all the game-breaking combos that are to be had with two free Qliphoth monsters per turn. If I understand the combo correctly, you need to summon 5 lvl 4 Qliphoth monters through a Pendulum Summon, then, XYW summon this card, then detach to provide materials for a tribute summon. That makes this card ridiculously hard to get out, and even harder to get advantage out of it. Why? Because you need a combo involving no less than 8 monsters IN YOUR HAND. That's simply too much. Ignis avis
I'd like to point out that pendulum monsters that are used as Xyz materials aren't returned to the extra deck so that this isn't quite as usable as at first glance. While it's effect is interesting losing 5 of your pendulums (as they'd be put into the graveyard instead of returned to the extra deck) seems a bit heavy of an overall risk. Making it a 3 mat would reduce the overall cost of use, and make it a more viable member of the archetype.

Using Pendulum Monsters as Xyz Materials means Pendulum Back becomes a worthwhile option, which is hardly a bad card, either.
