Dragonawsed
I have thought of new type of card that involves powering up your monster during any step and add an additional effect to that monster. I have name this new cards Awakenings. Example: Dark magician being attack or attacking into Blue-eyes white dragon. Surely this card would lose, but with an Awaking card, you could add more ATK or a effect that allows it to do fun things. These are the rules I have come up for these new cards: These card exist in your main deck, and count towards your deck total. You can activate these cards from your hand during any part of of the duel (on your turn or your opponent turn). When applying towards a certain monster, they are laid upon the target, such as you would with overlay with a 2 or more monsters for an Xyz monster. To note - Awakening cards are not considered new monster but enhancement to the existing monster. During your draw phase, you may choose to add back one Awaken card from the grave to your hand or draw your card. If you do choose to add the Awaken card to your hand, you are unable to draw from the top of your deck until your new draw step. Please tell me what you guys think about this new style of card. 藤原之足久
would there be only specific cards (like specific awakened dark magician, or would it be any level 7 spellcasters can awaken with one support card?) and would it have no backlash? it seems like it would be limiter removal mixed with honest, and there's a reason those cards are limited to
Seanoow
It sounds to me like you are trying to combine xyz materials with an equip-quickplay- spell card. I think the whole one turn boost and effect is rather interesting. It could be a game-changer at low life points. But then again, there are similar cards out there that have different kinds of utility, such as "forbidden lance". I think it is an interesting twist, also similar to assault modes and Gemini. I definitely think that they should be card restricted though, and instead of the awakening card always returning to your hand I think it should have something like "while this card is in the graveyard, you can banish 1 spell card to add this card to your hand". Or "Instead of conducting your normal draw phase, you can add this card from your graveyard to your hand". Also, for the awaken ability, maybe try to look at some of the other cards tied to those monsters (like for the dark magician look at cards like sages stone, dm girl, etc) and look for something that you cant do with those cards or a combination. (just a random idea here: Dark Magician Awakened Form - this card gains 600 attack for each dark magician girl in your graveyard).

Each would have an limitation, such as if a monster card that already had an overwhelming effect, then the attack would get boosted over gaining an addition effect. Backlash? Well this is just an idea for a new mechanic and would heavily need some tuning. It not perfect, granted nothing is when it first written about but it can be greatly improved upon It sounds to me like you are trying to combine xyz materials with an equip-quickplay- spell card. When I first came up with this Idea, it was right around the time we didn't know what new mechanic we were going to get after Xyz and I felt that the hand traps need a little boast. The idea came out about because of change. Great idea! I thought that losing the monster over losing the power-up card would be more devastation, but as with the first commit, these cards would be limited very fast and that would be no way to keep this alive. I think I will apply one of your suggestion to the rules.
