Philemon
"Elemental HERO Heat" + "Elemental HERO Lady Heat" Must be Fusion Summoned and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. If this card battles a WATER monster, this card gains 1000 ATK during the Damage Step only. When this card is destroyed, you can add 1 Spell Card from your Graveyard to your hand. Welcome to Debuff Corner, where we take a look at monsters that lost effects or had then weakened in the transition from the Anime or Manga to the actual Card Game. For our first subject we have Elemental HERO Inferno, an otherwise gimmicky fusion who gains 1000 ATK when fighting WATER monsters, who lost a rather potent effect: recovering a Spell card from the grave. Given his otherwise weak skills, low attack, and the effort you have to put in to get him out in the first place, I say this particular change was for the worse. Thoughts? Super Chaos Sonic
You know, I never thought about that previous effect from the manga before. But you are indeed right. To be honest, in a HERO deck with "Wroughtweilers", "Hidden Book of Spell", and other cards that allow access to add cards to your deck or hand, this effect would've been key in helping out. Why Konami decided against this idea is beyond me, but with the stats...they could've at least added it...
asterr259
If you're going to post something like this, I would put BOTH effects... 1 "Elemental HERO" monster + 1 FIRE monster This card cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion Summon. If this card battles a WATER monster, this card gains 1000 ATK during the Damage Step only. When this card is destroyed, you can add 1 Spell Card from your Graveyard to your hand. That aside. The manga version is generic like Nova Master, but slightly weaker stat wise. The plus +1000 for Water monsters is alittle bad, making it not really worth it, but it were +2000 or more it would make running DNA Surgery's Attribute Sister slighty worth it for OTK purposes. Also giving you the option to always have Zero, Acid, or Vapor plays available. Idk who still runs wroughtweiler(which only works for poly) nowadays or hidden spell book(2 spells to deck, a trap that can only be played on your turn), but to add ANY spell card from your grave to your hand seems a little broken. Philemon
I added the removed effect in bold. And I find it suspect whether Inferno was ever really a generic fusion, as all 3 times it was Fusion Summoned Jaden (and Hibiki) used Heat and Lady Heat as Fusion Materials, none of those times, not even the time Jaden summoned it with Construct Element, did the card text say the Fusion Materials. asterr259
Well I only posted what the wiki had, also Anime and Manga cards change effects all the time, just have to catch it. Anyway, Inferno's removed effect probably wouldn't be so bad if it were Polymerization/Fusion Spell cards.

I mean, we have Hidden Book of Spell and what not for other Spells.

Why recycle a Fusion Spell when you can recycle Monster Reborn/AHL/Gemini Spark/etc?
Wildflame
Heck, with those materials, that Spell-recovering effect sounds fair to me.
