What happens when you target a face-up spell/trap card on the field? With the effect that makes it's ATK and DEF equal to that card's ATK and DEF, I would change the effect to target 1 face-up monster on the field, not just any card on the field.

To answer your question, my thinking was that you would gain the effect and 0 atk/def boost.
