Summoned Skull UPDATED and COMPETITIVE!

Card Lore: If your opponent controls at least 2 monsters and you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand).  You can target 1 card on the field; send 1 card from your Deck to your Graveyard, and if you do, destroy that target.  This effect of "Summoned Skull can only be used once per Duel. This card cannot attack directly the turn you activate this effect.  You can only control 1 "Summoned Skull". 

 

I remember from the Anime the Summoned Skull had Lightning powers and I think that correlates well with a single destruction.  I decided to give him a Foolish Burial effect since he's like a Zombie Looking monster and it seemed fitting.  

 

EDITS MADE:  His effect is no longer once per turn, it's once per Duel.  Also, you can only control 1 now.

A once per turn Foolish burial just feels….wrong. Insanely so.

Not to mention it can be ANY card, which has gimmicks of its own.

You don't HAVE to summon him via this method, meaning he's a valid card in anything that would already normally be using Monarchs or Majesty's Fiend.

Shaddolls, for example.

 

This card abuses Archfiend Heiress in many ways. Pop and search and mill? I'm not seeing a cost.

I've also heard a bit about Summoned Skull being considered an Archfiend card, but I'm not sure…

 

Also, Destiny HERO Malicious gets milled...

This card is ludicrous and the milling effect should be removed.

A once per turn Foolish burial just feels….wrong. Insanely so.

Not to mention it can be ANY card, which has gimmicks of its own.

This card is ludicrous and the milling effect should be removed.

It is an archfiend, I forgot to add that.  And yeah I made it Normal Summonable... so what.  Monarchs are bad.  

I'd like to hear some other people's opinion.  I tried to make him Good and Useable, so I threw in the burial effect.   I don't think he's as good as you're making him out to be.

 

I mean look at Shaddoll Fusion... You Foolish Burial two monsters.  Pretty much any of your choice, and on top of that get a Fusion monster.

So it can destroy any card for the "cost" (Which in certain decks isn't even a cost) of sending a card from your deck to the grave? That does seem a bit too much to be honest. Especially since you can either Special Summon, or only need one tribute to get it out. Plus it's 2500 Attack, so it won't be all too difficult to keep around. I think you went a little overboard with making it useful.

Actually I made the sending to graveyard an effect.  So if you have the Fiendish Chain, Veiler, or Breakthrough it'll stop the Dump.

Too rewarding for ease of Summon. You get to dump something and break a card, and it can still attack enemy monsters, you can still Special Summon, and you can use multiple copies per turn. 

 

Monarchs are not "bad"; Monarchs are unreliable because they don't do anything special if they're not Tribute Summoned. If Monarch effects were once-per-turn and dumped a card you'd see Zaborg in Shaddolls.

This card is absolutely ridiculous and stinks of terrible design. It has a reasonably reliable Special Summoning clause, it can still be Tribute Summoned and it gets a free Foolish and a pop for absolutely no cost whatsoever. This card needs to be thrown out and you need to start again. Adding a cost element won't make this card any better design. 

 

Also, justifying your cards being broken/badly designed because Konami make broken and badly designed cards is absolutely NO justification whatsoever and you shouldn't make Konami-standard cards here because they are mostly really stupid.

How about if I add you can only control 1 "Summoned Skull" and instead of once per turn, once per duel?

^Wouldn't be much better. You seem to have ignored the first comment's good point - relatively easy ss, dump a Malicious and pop a card, go for a rank 6. Or use in most meta decks today (Shaddolls, Burning Abyss) at 1 for a free beater/burial. The fact that the effect was changed to "once per duel" just shows it isn't well designed: you need to change the mill to a different 'cost' to balance it all, then you don't have to have a opd effect.

If I made the milling a cost then players would say the milling would be too OP b/c you can mill even if Skill Drain or Fiendish Chain etc.

 

I'll just scratch the card, and try again later with a different, more balanced effect, that would still be useful.
