Divided monsters!

Let's do something that everyone else has done already and introduce my own custom monster type!

When I refer to type I mean along the lines of Synchro, Xyz, Ritual and Fusion. Well more like Ritual because they exist in the main deck.

Meet Divided monsters!

Now what makes them special?

They have both a rank and a level in order to create an interesting dynamic on the field.

How does having a rank and a level work?

They are effected by any card that effects levels or ranks, either lowering or raising them, or cards like burden of the mighty.

Their combined level and rank can not go above twelve.

There is no required balance, it could have a level one and a rank seven.

Now you're probably thinking how would I summon a divided monster?

Simple, if its level and rank when combined is 4 or under you can normal summon it

If its level and rank when combined is 5 or 6 it requires one tribute to summon

If its level and rank when combined is 7 or higher it requires two tributes to summon.

Some will have other requirements to summon.

Wait, does this mean you summon them just like you'd summon a normal or effect monster?!

Why yes, yes it does.

Can I use them for the summon of a Ritual, Synchro, Fusion, or Xyz monster?

It depends actually! See anything that requires an exact level like Synchro and Xyz monsters they won't work for.

If a Synchro monster allowed you to go higher or lower than the requirement then yes, same with Xyz!

For ritual and fusion monsters as long as they don't require an exact level then yes!

What about card effects that require a level or rank?

Well if it's exact then no, but if it's above or below it can! Such as one level four or lower, or an effect that says four or higher could target a divided monster with a level of four!

What is the main point of their effects?

Well you might not have this question, I just feel it's a good idea to place it since Xyz monsters were based around detaching.

You know that one thing that like, no players really use? I'm talking about the Side deck. Not to say that no one uses it, I have seen a few people use it well, it is just mostly ignored.

I was thinking they could be based around siding mid-match. Such as sending a card from the top of the deck to the side deck and placing a card from the side deck into your deck.

Thoughts, questions, or hate? Leave em down below, and if you ask a question I can't answer with what is up there I'll totally admit you stumped me, so go on then, tell me what you think of divided monsters!

I'm a little confused as to the purpose of having both Ranks and Levels if all they really seem to have are downsides, as for Side Deck shenanigans that seems a little difficult and far-fetched, and doesn't seem to relate to the dual rank/type thing.
