Atypical-Abbie
Connection Monsters are a new form of monster that you put in your Extra Deck. These monsters are Summoned by Connection Summoning them, which you do by placing 1 Spell/Trap Card you control and 1 monster you control which are in the same column in any of your Monster Zones so that the monster is above the Spell/Trap Card, the placing the Connection Monster from your Extra Deck on top of those cards (called the Connection Materials). If that sounds confusion, think of how some people place Equip Spell Cards under the monster to remember what monster is equipped. It's basically the same thinking as that. DO NOT flip the monster or Spell/Trap Card face-up when you do so. Some Connection Monsters have more restrictive Summoning conditions, such as requiring a monster of a specific Level or only Trap Cards in their card text. Connection Monsters work like Synchro and Xyz Monsters, they do not start a Chain to be Summoned and they must first be Connection Summoned to be Summoned from the Graveyard afterwards. Connection Monsters gain different effects based on whether or not the Connection Materials are face-up, face-down, a specific Attribute etc. Some also Disconnect their Connection Materials, which the same as detaching an Xyz Material, except that they are considered Disconnected. Tokens cannot be used as Connection Material, but Trap Monsters can. However, they only count as the monster part if they were Summoned. If a Connection Monster is flipped face-down or used as an Xyz Material, it loses the Connection Materials it has. Connection Monsters: Stateswitch Dragon Dragon-Type/EARTH/Connection Level 8 1 monster + 1 Spell/Trap Card Once per turn, if 1 of this card's Connection Materials are face-up and the other face-down: You can pay 800 LP; switch the face-down Connection Material face-up and the face-up Connection Material face-down. This card gains the following effects, depending on which Connection Materials are face-up. ● Monster: Once per turn, if a Connection Monster is Connection Summoned with a lower Level than this card: You can target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls with the same Level as the Summoned monster; return that target to the hand. ● Spell/Trap Card: This card cannot be destroyed by your opponent's monster effects. 2400/2200 Wild Hunter of the Night Warrior-Type/DARK/Connection Level 4 1 monster + 1 Spell/Trap Card This card gains the following effects, depending on which Connection Materials are face-up. ● DARK monster: You can Disconnect this card's monster Connection Material, then target 1 face-up monster your opponent controls; it loses ATK equal to half the Disconnected monster's ATK. ● Spell/Trap Card: If this card destroys an opponent's monster by battle: You can Disconnect this card's Spell/Trap Card Connection Material; this card gains 700 ATK. 1900/400 Storm Breaker Machine-Type/WIND/Connection Level 7 1 face-up Machine-Type monster + 1 face-up Spell/Trap Card You can Disconnect both this card's Connection Materials; destroy all Spell/Trap Cards your opponent controls and all Spell/Trap Card Connection Materials Connected to Connection Monsters they control (if any), then this card gains 400 ATK for each card destroyed this way. 2200/2500
CybZer0
Similar to xyz monsters, except connecting cards in the same column like an overlay. Interesting concept, I like it. What do connection monsters look like (e.g, syncrho monsters are white, xyzs are black and fusions purple.)? My only complaint is extra deck space. Radiant F.U.R.Y.™
what if it was colored according to acceptable materials? Like a monster with no restrictions would be green, purple, and brown...one that required a trap would be purple and brown...etc here's what I mean with stateswitch as an example
lokun489
They seem too easy to summon, especially since you can set spell cards (albeit while preventing them from using their effects). So maybe an attack decrease or making the monster effect less powerful? Maybe even making it so the monsters level has to be equal to the level of the connection monster you are summoning? I mean, great concept just, pulled off a little weak.
