Heinken111
Today the RMS Lusitania Sank 100 years ago. With it came a shift in the world that still comes today as the US woke to become the successor of Great Britian on the world stage. This sinking is ill-remembered like the Empress of Ireland last year whose sinking killed more people than on the Titanic. This is despite the fact that without Lusitania and her sister vessel the TItanic, Olympic, and Britannic would probably not have been or used in the way they were. This is a discussion thread only about Lusitania and her sinking! Just a place to remember the 1198 killed by a torpedo, and several hundred tons of coal dust turning the ship into a grave in under 20 minutes. No conspiracy theories like "The British set her up." or "She had weapons on her so she deserved to sink." or "American toursists during WW1 are idiots." please, for if you do remember the thousand other ships sunk by U-boat and remember, the ships were listed as "Armed Merchant Cruisers." in Janes FIghting Ships. Lusitania had been removed from that category and the change had yet to be rectified. Please also remember the 1000 other vessels and their crews killed during the war today.
