Static
This didn't fit into any of my other debates, so I will make a thread for it here. This issue has really bothered me for a while. Martyr - Someone who kills themself for an established cause.Soldier - Someone who fights and will kill for an established cause.Rebel - Someone who will put every last bit of effort in to try and have his own cause implemented. I wish to discuss this more than debate, as there isn't much to argue more than opinion. Are these worth it? Is one/two of them worth it? Are they noble? And Why? Martyrism* is a failed philosophy that is impressed upon people who think that a cause greater than themselves exists, and they kill themselves in vain so that they can seek either some reward in the afterlife, or honor in death. Soldierism* is also a failed philosophy, mainly because like Martyrism, it is in vain, and your just being used as some puppet by people who have more power, who view you as less than themselves. The people are taught that they make a difference, but they only make a difference in the scheme of the leaders life, because we know the leaders don't care for innocent civilians who are silly enough to put their lives at risk for nothing. Rebelism* is the only one of those things that I can understand why someone would even bother with. The need for change should be taught by what you personally feel, how it affects you and those you love. When you know something needs to change, you will raise arms against the prevailing force, and you will at least try to get your two cents implemented regarding the issue. If you die as a rebel, you die for yourself, promoting your cause, and helping others come closer to it. * = made up word, but it is what it reads like. Well, thats what I think about it, feel free to challenge me, agree, or give your opinion on it. :)

Static
I will defend to the death this established cause of destroying martyrism and promoting rebelism! Ick, I hate being both a Zionist who wishes Palestinians would just give up their cause, or die, and also being in support of people making the decisions, their best world, you know, all that socialist stuff, let the rebel remake the faulty system of his fathers. I think I have a God Complex.
HORUS
Rebelism > Martyrism and Soldierism Rebels take action. Soldiers and Martyrs die. Most of the time, rebels die, but at least they did something instead of simply killing themselves, like those Tibetan monks back in the early days of the Tibet protests that lit themselves on fire in public and burned to death. I'm not saying I don't support our troops. I definitely support them, but I do not support war. Soldiers should be for defense. Not reorganizing the government of a foreign country who does not want us.

Not [b']reorganizing[/b] the government of a foreign country who does not want us. We should be annexing them, not reorganizing them. That way, we can fix our economy and be able to legally house troops there for whatever reason we want, and Ahmejadaheilhitler can piss himself in fear. Frunk
Is there a difference between "martyrism" and martyrdom? Lulz. Person 1: It's martyrdom!Person 2: No, its martyrism. ^ http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=martyrism "The death of a martyr or the value attributed to it is called martyrdom." ^ http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Martyr So according to my spell check, "martyrism" should be marked with an "*" in your post as well.
