My first GIMP Banners

Here is the first banners I've ever made on GIMP! Please comment and tell me what you think! Go easy on me.

I hope I get better as I know they are not very good. Also, I found out a way to get decent text. When you've wrote it, keep it highlight and give it a 3D outline, pick a design and I think it makes it look pretty cool. I also made the Kaiba render smaller in my latest banner.

Luminous yellow doesn't work with gold.

No border.

No definition on the text.

Too big for my tastes.

@kizzi - It's my first try >.> It's not hard to add a border you can do that on Paint. I like the colour. Definition? It's not THAT big, 500 x 200, but I'm making my next one 400 x 200, as I think it is a little big.

Links to any decent tuts? I'd greatly appreciate if you did. And, just a question, you don't have to answer, where can I get good display filters? I'll keep the colour, add a border, outline the text and repost, does that sound good? So much for going easy on me but thanks, it's the only way I'll get better :P

for your first is ok seen better firsts 6/10

dont stop if you get bad reviews keep going and never stop

(unless you dont fined graphics enjoyable)

@wolfsberker - I really love it, I won't give up if the greatest banner maker gave me this comment "YOU SUCK! YOU'RE A DISGRACE TO THE WORD BANNER! GIVE UP N00B!" :lol: thanks, a 6/10 is at least past the 5/10 mark for my first.

Latest Banner does have a border, but it's white, I may change it to black. Please rate and offer constructive critism.

Stop using bad fonts, and use normal fonts with outer glow.

dont use plain white borders.

 

also more blending and give the banners some flow.

@kizzi - How can I make it have an outer glow?

@Cybernetic Dragon - I won't use plain white... I can use other colours. How do you get the border to blend (like in kizzi's sig)? And... more blending?

 

Sorry again, the experienced banner makers must be annoyed by seeing such bad banners :lol:

@mon94key(CD comment): Stroke. Also, layer modes, opacities and effects.

GIMP tuts work on Photoshop, BTW.
