Pay 1000 life points to activate this card. During each players' battle phase, monsters can only inflict a total of 2000 points of both direct and battle damage. If a monster's ATK is higher than 2000 or the total ATK of monsters attacking is more than 2000, reduce the ATK down to 2000.

I mean, I don't get why you'd run this. It's basically worse than Swords of Revealing Light, and has a cost. Am I missing something?

 

The card was made to prevent OTKs, an issue I've been having recently. Hmm I'd remove the cost, but I'm not sure if its continuos effect may make it overpowered. Perhaps I could reduce the attack caused to 1000? Or maybe this could only affect the opponent?

   Enguin presented a good point - Swords are a lot better. Unless you want to have some weird interractions with the card being a Continuous Spell Card (e.g. with cards like Gravi-Crush Dragon, Hamon, Staunch Defender and other), or if you want to have something more lasting than Swords, the card is not worth it.

  Anyway, it needs no cost and the 2000 points can drop for sure. And yes, affecting only the opponent is valid.

But there's already Battle Fader, Swift Scarecrow, Damajuggler, and other hand traps. Threatening Roar, Waboku, that crappy one you can only use in the standby phase. In terms of OTK prevention, this is so slow and weak it's not even something to be considered, and it's outclassed by the aforementioned Swords and even Nightmare Steel Cage really.

 

I know this is casual cards but still, it's worse than a gen 1 card. Definitely remove the cost and have it reduce opponent's damage to 0 or something, there's already crap like Spirit Barrier anyway, this does a similar job but without the requirement. There's so many cards to remove this kind of thing now though that it'd not get consideration really.
