Fluffyfish
Just some basic stuff (I wished to make a single card only, but I felt the need of both a Trap and a Xyz Monster). [spoiler=Cards]Burgesstoma HalwaxiidaRank 2 - WATER - Aqua/Xyz/Effect - 1200/02 or more Level 2 monstersUnaffected by other monster effects. This card gains 600 ATK for each Trap Card attached to it as Xyz material. Once per turn, if a Trap Card(s) is sent from the field to the Graveyard: You can target 1 of those cards; attach it to this card as Xyz material. During each player's End Phase: Detach 1 Xyz Material from this card or banish 1 card from your Spell & Trap Card Zone. When this card is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard while it has Xyz Material: You can target 1 "Burgesstoma" Trap Card in your Graveyard; Set it in your Spell & Trap Card Zone. Burgesstoma OdontogriphusTrap/NormalTarget 1 face-up card on the field; negate its effects until the end of this turn. When a Trap Card on the field is activated while this card is in your Graveyard: You can Special Summon this card as a Normal Monster (Aqua/WATER/Level 2/ATK 1200/ DEF 0). (This card is NOT treated as a Trap Card.) If Summoned this way, this card is unaffected by monster effects, also banish it when it leaves the field. To summary, not only the R2 pool sucks, but being forced into Opabinia if you only have 2 monsters is kind of annoying (the card is good, but its really only to extend your plays, and sometimes you just don't have the resources to benefit from that), and I see myself using Centaurea more than I wanted to (probably because its the best R2, but still). And they didn't even tried with some of Burgesstomas Trap Cards (why Eldonia exists?), and sometimes I see myself using some just to fill the space (because you want to run a bunch of them, and Marella and Hallucigenia are just so-so most of the time). So I went for a R2 with some offensive power, and they really need a way to recover themselves from the Graveyard (to be used as Traps). The Trap is just Breakthrough Skill but archetypal (that also affects S/T, which is probably quite useful either way). Also, to clarify, these card's names are from the Burgess Shale Formation indeed (just random names I literally copy pasted from the wiki). And don't expect me to find suitable images of them (I'm still not 100% sure what they are besides being fossils or something).See ya. KrazyK
I think Halwaxiida's a bit unbalanced. I mean, every time a Trap is sent from the field to the Graveyard it can attach it to itself as an Xyz Material? Meaning in like 1 turn, if both player's play 2 Traps each, Halwaxiida will have stacked 1200 ATK each for both pars of Traps. That is if the opponent instead chooses not to use their Traps cause they know they'll get snatched by Halwaxiida.I would put a once per turn restriction on Halwaxiida, otherwise that Xyz Material nabbing effect is too OP. Odon is nice. Just a generic Burgesstoma, this one just negating sheet instead. I would however specify if it targets face-up or face-down (how that's even possible) cards. Fluffyfish
Yep. Can't deny I went too easy on balancing the Xyz (gotta remember they are unaffected by monster effects, which means a lot).It got a couple of restrictions/downsides now (the idea is that you must spend Trap cards to keep its ATK boost).
