Undertale Competitive Cards (Monsters only for now)

Hello, my name is leafbladie. Recently I became enamored with Undertale and relight my passion for competitive Yu-Gi-Oh. So I decided to merge the two to make cards that I felt could be playable in the meta. Right now I just wanted to focus on the monster cards and either buffing or nerfing them to fit more within the current meta, but I do have spell/trap cards planned. This is my first time making cards, so if I make any mistakes in the effect text, please tell me, whether it be inconsistencies or straight up errors I'd like to know anything to make these cards look more professional. However, she has not done every single Undertale character so for the one's not done I will just be using sprites from the games for now. At the end of this post I will give my reasoning for these effects and how I envisioned this deck would play so you could get a better grasp of it. Hope you enjoy it.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by its own effect or by "Frisk". When this card is Special Summoned destroy all monsters on your side of the field, and you cannot Normal Summon or Special Summon any other monsters while this card is on the field. When this card attacks your opponent cannot activate cards or effects until the end of the damage step. During your End Phase change this monster to defense position. During your Standby Phase change this monster to attack position, and it must attack this turn if able. When this card is sent from the field to graveyard, banish 1 monster from your hand, and if you do, Special Summon this card.

This monster cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned (during either player's turn), by tributing 1 "Mettaton" monster while you have 2000 or less LP. This card cannot be destroyed by card effects (other than its own). When this monster battles, destroy it after the damage step.

This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card must Special Summoned (from your hand, deck, or graveyard) when an "Undertale - Undyne" is destroyed by battle after being Special Summoned by its own effect. You can only control 1 "Undertale - Undyne the Undying" on your side of the field. Once per turn, if this card were to be destroyed by battle or card effect you can decrease its DEF by 1000 and increase its ATK by 1000 instead (if this effect is activated while it has 0 DEF destroy it instead). When this card attacks your opponents cannot activate card effects until the the end of the Damage Step.

This monster can be Special Summoned by tributing 1 "Undertale" monster with 2000 or more ATK. If this card is Special Summoned you can add 1 "Undertale - Toriel" from your deck to your hand. While this monster is on the field your opponent cannot target "Undertale" monsters for attack or effects (other than this one). Once per turn if this monster were to be destroyed by battle you can lower its DEF by 500 instead (if its DEF is 0 when this effect is activated, destroy it instead). If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 10 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

This monster can be Special Summoned by tributing 1 "Undertale" monster with 2000 or more ATK. If this card is Special Summoned you can add 1 "Undertale - Asgore" from your deck to your hand. While this monster is on the field your opponent cannot target "Undertale" monsters for attack or effects (other than this one). Once per turn if this monster were to be destroyed by battle you can lower its DEF by 500 instead (if its DEF is 0 when this effect is activated, destroy it instead). If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 10 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

This monster can be Special Summoned by tributing 1 "Undertale - Mettaton". If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 8 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step. This card gains effects based on the number of monsters on the field:

2+: This monster gains 200 ATK for every monster on the field.

4+: Your opponent cannot target other monsters you control for attacks.

6+: This card is unaffected by card effects.

If an "Undertale" monster on your side of the field is attacked, you can return it to the hand and Special Summon this card in defense position, its DEF becomes 0, and the attack target is changed to this card. If this card were to be destroyed by battle, lower its DEF by 500 instead (if its DEF is 0 when this effect is activated, destroy it instead). If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 8 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

When this monster is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned you can add 1 Equip Spell card from your deck to your hand. Once per turn if this monster were to be destroyed by battle you can lower its DEF by 500 instead (if its DEF is 0 when this effect is activated, destroy it instead). If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 5 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

You can pay 1000 LP to Special Summon this monster without Tribute. If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 6 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step. Once per turn, you can pay 1000 LP activate one of the following effects:

•Switch the position of one monster on your opponent's side of the field, your opponent cannot change its position until the end of their next turn.

•Special summon one "Spider Pet" Token (Beast-Type/Dark/Level 6/ATK 3000/Def 1000) to your side of the field. It cannot attack your opponent directly, and it is destroyed during the end phase.

•You can target one monster on your side of the field and return its DEF to its original value.

While this card is on the field during each of your opponent's end phases you can halve one of their monster's ATK or DEF, and if they control no monsters you can halve their LP instead. Once per turn if this monster were to be destroyed by card effect you can lower its DEF by 1000 instead (if you cannot lower its DEF any further, then it is destroyed instead). During your end phase you can change this monster to defense position.

When this card is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned you can add 1 level 5 to 8 "Undertale" monster from your deck to your hand. Once per turn if this monster were to be destroyed by battle you can lower its DEF by 500 instead (if its DEF is 0 when this effect is activated, destroy it instead). If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 5 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

When this card is Normal Summoned you can Special Summon two "Undertale - Papyrus" from your hand or deck. This card can only be used for a Synchro Summon. This card can only be used for the Xyz Summon of an "Undertale" monster. This card cannot destroy monsters by battle. If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 6 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

When this card is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned you can look at the top 3 cards of your deck and add 1 "Undertale" card or 1 card that mentions an "Undertale" monster in its text among them to your hand. Then place the rest on top of your deck in any order. If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 4 LV Counter on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

When this card is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned you can add 1 Level 3 or lower "Undertale" monster from your deck to your hand. If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 4 LV Counter on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

When this card is Normal Summoned or Special Summoned you can select one monster your opponent controls. The selected monster cannot attack while this card remains on the field. If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 4 LV Counter on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

When this card is Normal Summoned or Flip Summoned. you can add 1 "Undertale" card from your deck to your hand, then if it was a "Mettaton" card you can show it to your opponent and add 1 more "Undertale" card from your deck to your hand. You cannot Special Summon the turn you activate this effect. Once per turn you can flip this card into face down defense position.

This card is unaffected by monster effects. When this card destroys a monster by battle place LV Counters on it equal to the Rank/Level of the destroyed monster (Max. 19). This card gains 200 ATK for each LV counter on it. This card can attack your own monsters. During your end phase you must turn this monster to defense position. If this monster is destroyed by battle or card effect, you can Special Summon it to your field during your next Standby Phase.

2 Level 8 "Undertale" monsters

This monster is unaffected by card effects while it has Xyz Material attached to it. You can detatch 2 Xyz Material from this card to destroy all cards on the field (other than this one).

3 Level 4 Monsters

This card cannot be destroyed by card effects. While this card has "Undertale" Xyz Material, when an opponent's monster attacks this card you can detach one Xyz Material from this card to negate the attack. When this monster attacks an opponent's monster, the opponent's monster ATK is halved, and this card gains that lost ATK. If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 15 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

2 Level 3 monsters

When this card is Xyz Summoned you can look at the top 5 cards in your deck and if there are any "Undertale" cards or cards that mention an "Undertale" monster in their text among them you can add up to 2 of them to your hand, then put the rest back on the top of your deck in any order. While this card has "Undertale" monsters attached to it as Xyz material, if this card were to be destroyed by battle you can detatch 2 Xyz Material instead. If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 6 LV Counters on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

2 Level 2 monsters

When this card is Xyz summoned you can add 1 "Undertale" monster from your deck to your hand. While this card has "Undertale" monsters attached to it as Xyz Material, if this card were to be destroyed by battle you can detatch 2 Xyz Material instead. If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 6 LV Counter on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

2 Level 1 monsters

When this card is Xyz Summoned you can choose 1 monster on your opponent's side of the field, while this card has Xyz Material that monster cannot attack or activate its effect. While this card has "Undertale" monsters attached to it as Xyz material, if this card were to be destroyed by battle you can detatch 2 Xyz Material instead. If this card is attacked by "Frisk" place 6 LV Counter on that "Frisk" before the Damage Step.

 

 

 

 

 

So those are the cards I have so far. Obviously it'd be extremely hard to make a functioning deck around all of it, so you'd probably want to instead build a deck around Undyne, Mettaton, Asriel, or Chara. Sans will work decently well in any of these decks. I plan on making a field spell that'll make it easier to swarm the field with Undertale monsters and allow you to search an Undertale monster from your deck instead of conducting your draw phase, so with Terraforming it's very likely you'll get that Field spell out by turn 1. Though this would probably be a deck that would prefer to go second. Loox, Froggit, and Whimsun serve basic functions I think many decks should have. Searching your deck, and negating effects/attacks. The negate destruction from battle ability I thought was essential for this deck as I don't plan on giving this archetype almost any graveyard support, which I know is one of the most anti-meta things possible, but it feels a bit of a betrayal to the game to support sending monsters to the graveyard. I felt like making Chara unaffected by monster effects since in the lore of the game monster's magic is very ineffective against humans, but I thought it might make them too OP, especially since I plan on making an equip spell for it to prevent it from being destroyed by card effects. I thought Madjick would be useful for any of the decks to search the main player of the decks, Toriel, Asgore, Undyne, or Mettaton to your hand. Knight Knight is here to search equip spells which are necessary for your Frisk/Chara, and Madjick is also there to make it easier too. Since reinforcement of the army is unfortunately at 1, it'll be harder for Frisk decks to get it out on turn 1. I also have a spell planned to protect the LV Counters should Frisk be destroyed.

 

Mettaton decks would be more focused on swarming the field, keeping the weaker monsters safe. If you have a full field of monster, your opponent would need to summon a 4000+ ATK monster to destroy it in straight battle. In which case you can tribute it for Mettaton Neo if your LP is low enough so it's not a complete loss. I thought getting rid of the LP requirement might be a good idea if I removed the cannot be destroyed by card effects ability.

 

Undyne deck would be pretty straightforward. just get Undyne to the hand, sack her, and get Undyne the Undying to the field. Your opponent will need to destroy her twice in a turn to fully get rid of her, or negate her effect. Crystal Wing would be annoying for this deck probably.

 

Asriel deck would want to get Asgore and Toriel to the field pretty quickly. Then it becomes an indestructible 4000 ATK beatstick, or if your opponent also has a 4000 ATK monster you can just nuke the field with it. The difficulty to summon him I think compensates for this as Asgore and Toriel are the only level 8 "Undertale" monsters I plan on having.

 

Chara deck would just be destroy your own monsters with Frisk until you can summon Chara. Then slowly grind through your opponents field with it. Frisk would have some reliance on equip spells to keep it safe.

 

If you have any suggestions, please tell me. I think this could also work decently well with Dimensional Fissure since you don't really need your graveyard for this deck (unless it's a Chara deck).
