So guess I might as well share an archetype that I have been dabbling on for a while now, based on my favorite Vanguard clan: Shadow Paladin.
 
Will be updating this thread once more ideas come around.
 
Monsters
 
Shadowknight Javelin
DARK/4/Warrior/Effect
If you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 “Shadowknight” monster from your Deck or Graveyard to your hand, except “Shadowknight Javelin”. You can only use this effect of “Shadowknight Javelin” once per turn.

Shadowknight Commander
DARK/4/Warrior/Effect
If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can send 1 “Shadowknight” card from your Deck to the Graveyard, except “Shadowknight Commander”. You can only use this effect of “Shadowknight Commander” once per turn. If this card attacks an opponent’s monster, it gains 400 during the Damage Step only.

If you control a DARK monster, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). If you do, you cannot Special Summon monsters from the Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except DARK monsters. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can take 1 “Shadowknight” card from your Deck, and either add it to your hand or send it to the Graveyard. You can only use this effect of “Shadowknight Breaker” once per turn.

You can only use this effect of “Shadowknight Gardna” once per turn.

At the end of the Damage Step, when this card attacks an opponent’s monster, but the opponent’s monster was not destroyed by that battle: You can destroy that opponent’s monster.

You can banish this card from your Graveyard, then target 2 Level 4 or lower “Shadowknight” monsters in your Graveyard; you cannot Special Summon monsters from your Extra Deck for the rest of this turn, except DARK monsters, also Special Summon those targets, but their effects are negated. You can only use this effect of “Shadowknight General” once per turn.

During either player’s turn, when a card or effect is activated that targets exactly 1 DARK monster you control: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; negate the activation.

Monster Effect: If this card on the field is destroyed by battle or card effect: You can Special Summon 1 “Shadowknight” monster from your Deck. You can only use this effect of “Shadowknight Frontline Trooper” once per turn.

Pendulum Effect: You cannot Pendulum Summon monsters, except “Shadowknight” monsters. This effect cannot be negated. Once per turn: You can target 1 “Shadowknight” monster you control; it is treated as a Tuner monster until the end of this turn.
Monster Effect: If a DARK monster you control attacks or is attacked by an opponent’s monster, the opponent’s monster’s ATK and DEF are halved, during damage calculation only.

Once per turn, during either player’s turn, when a Spell/Trap Card or effect is activated: You can negate the activation, and if you do, destroy it. If this card in its owner’s possession is destroyed: You can return all of your banished “Shadowknight” cards to the Graveyard, and if you do, gain 300 Life Points for each card returned to the Graveyard by this effect. You can only use this effect of “Nightmare, Shadowknight of the Infernal Edge” once per turn.

If this card is Synchro Summoned: You can send 1 DARK monster from your hand or Deck to the Graveyard. You can only use this effect of “Diarmuid, Shadowknight of the Cursed Spears” once per turn. If this card attacks a Defense Position monster, inflict piercing battle damage to your opponent. When this card destroys a monster by battle and sends it to the Graveyard: Inflict damage to your opponent equal to either the original ATK or DEF (whichever is higher, your choice if tied) of the destroyed monster in the Graveyard.

This card gains 200 ATK for each of your banished DARK monsters. This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls, once each. If this card is sent to the Graveyard: You can target 1 of your “Shadowknight” cards that is banished or in your Graveyard; add it to your hand. You can only use this effect of “Camilla, Shadowknight of the Phantasmal Blade” once per turn.

If this card is Special Summoned: You can target 1 Level/Rank 4 or lower monster in your Graveyard; this card gains ATK equal to half its Level/Rank x 200. You can only use this effect of “Efnysien, Shadowknight of the Stalking Scythe” once per turn. Banish any monster destroyed by battle with this card.

1 Tuner + 1 or more non-Tuner monsters
During your Main Phase, you can Normal Summon 1 “Shadowknight” monster in addition to your Normal Summon/Set. (You can only gain this effect once per turn.) Once per turn: You can banish 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard; inflict 1000 damage to your opponent, then 1 face-up monster your opponent controls loses 1000 ATK and DEF.

If this card is in your Graveyard: You can banish 1 other DARK monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card, but banish it when it leaves the field. You can only use this effect of “Rugos, Shadowknight of the Indomitable Spirit” once per turn.

Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; destroy 1 monster your opponent controls that has the lowest ATK, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. (If it’s a tie, you get to choose.) This card cannot attack your opponent directly during the turn you activate this effect.

You can also Xyz Summon this card by using a Rank 4 “Shadowknight” Xyz Monster as the Xyz Material (Xyz Materials attached to that monster also become Xyz Materials on this card.) If this card has “Shadowknight Paladin” as an Xyz Material, any card sent to your opponent’s Graveyard is banished instead. Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card; destroy 1 card your opponent controls, and if you do, inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. If this face-up card would be destroyed, you can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card instead.

Once per turn, during either player’s turn, when your opponent targets exactly this card (and no other cards) for an attack, or with a card effect: You can target 1 other DARK monster you control that would be an appropriate target; that attack/effect now targets the new target.

You can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 “Shadowknight” monster from your Deck to your hand. You can only use this effect of “Shadowknight Invigoration” once per turn.

If this card is in your Graveyard: You can banish 1 DARK monster from your Graveyard; Special Summon this card as a Normal Monster (Warrior-Type/Tuner/DARK/Level 1/ATK 500/DEF 500). (This card is NOT treated as a Trap Card.) If Summoned this way, banish this card when it leaves the field. You can only use this effect of “Shadowknight Soul Helm” once per turn.
