Pollen GatherNormal TrapIf you control an Insect-Type "Princess", "Queen", or "Empress" monster, you can discard this card from your hand to activate its effect. Draw 1 card. Since it is rather narrow I took the "You can activate this card from your hand" ability and kicked it up. It now can be used even if you have a full backrow, and I think even if you can't use traps but I'm not sure there. As well discarding instead of sending to the grave to make sure Darklaw/Macro Cosmos/whatever doesn't stop them.
DiplomatfromPluto
Persistent Roach has an interesting effect. I'm sure it means destroyed by battle, though, so you can't return it if you used for summoning. But you could still dump them in the grave and put 2 back in play. They could be used for a rank 2 or helping with synchro/tribute summoning. If you had 5 monsters on the field including Insect Queen Larvae and the Plague Swarm spell and let's be generous and say 3 of them were level 7+, Larvae would go up to 2100 ATK, which is big for a level 3 but you're not going to beat your opponent with it and I don't think it's wise to expect a field of 5 semi-specific monsters and one spell card. Larvae's effect to ss a banished insect is a little more useful since some of your monsters rely on banishing. You haven't posted the monsters mentioned in Volume Spider's text so I couldn't speak about how good it would be to be able to search for those cards on a specific monster. Does Colony Egg Tender search for that "Grand Insect Imitation" spell? If so, it might be a decent combo. You could NS the monster, get the spell, then as long as you had another monster, you could special summon a lot of different monsters from your deck, depending on the level of the other monster. It's a bit slow though, and it requires you to use a NS, assuming the monster stays on the field. If you have other cards in mind that this monster could search for, it would be improved.I should mention that the spell in question requires you to tribute any 2 monsters, and while there's no way other decks would use this because it can only summon insect-types, it seems like you should change the effect to tributing 2 insect types to summon an insect. Swarm of Bees is better since you could tribute it for most of your higher level insects. Orchid Mantis' effects are inconsequential at 100 ATK boost, and being able to attack twice with only 1500 ATK won't help much. Pheromone Counter might not be too bad but its effect does rely on being destroyed. Black Widow is pretty good at 2600 DEF. As long as you flip a few of your opponent's monsters with another card, this could destroy a lot of monsters. Angelic Moth has an ok summoning condition, its ATK gain effects are inconsequential. Pheromone Queen could get pretty powerful if you loaded up your field and I can actually see her getting powerful enough to beat some monsters if you summon her by the tribute summon effect. Synchro ringworm is great. Free tuner and you can modify its level to make your synchros. Dimensionhopper is also a good tuner with an extra summoning effect. Nimrod Spider would help with Black Widow's effect. Some altogether good tuners. Dragonflywing might be a good way to get rid of some of your opponent's back row. Sun-Roller Scarab contains some MTG language but it could deal a lot of burn damage if it got a lot of counters. Galactipede also has MTG language; it's the strongest in terms of ATK but milling the top card, even for dealing piercing dmage, might actually help the opponent more than it hurts them. Insect paladin mentions creatures rather than monsters. It seems a bit counter-productive since a lot of these cards have effects for being destroyed. I remember hearing about rank 4 monsters, they're very reactionary. They're meant to deal with something right now, and their's a lot of really good ones because they can be made so easily. It's detach effect gives it 200 ATK only if one of your monsters attacks a monster with the same ATK. I can't think of any way that would be helpful to this monster or any strategy that you might use. Pheromone Trail is a pretty strong card and Swarm Protector is an ok way to get out more insects. Army of Ants is terrible by itself but if you Foolish Burial'd it and banished it with Ectoplasm Webber, you could get a spell in the hand and a level 4 token on the field. These cards have a bit of synergy with each other, I realize that they have a few ways to swarm the field, which would make their ATK boost effects more potent. I noticed that they all had low ATK for such high level monsters. Swarm of Bees would be absolutely essential to get your stronger insects out, Roach could be used as tribute fodder then get some of them back. Pheromone Queen could become a really powerful beater and you have some great tuners for some decent synchros. However, I don't think your Xyz or Orchid Mantis have any use in this deck. If you kept the Xyz as a generic though, it gives some nice protection. Angelic Moth and Ectoplasm seem like your main fuel for banishing. Even though these cards might have been meant as insect support, I think they could work better together, since I don't know of many prominent insect archetypes/decks. If they were used together, they do suffer a few problems. There's no protection whatsoever, meaning they can all be removed by card effects. With that in mind, it might be difficult to swarm the field. However, you could make some protection cards. Pot of Desires might be really good with this deck since it has a way of returning banished monsters (although I've heard people talking about banishing face-up vs. face-down, so that might be a problem. Foolish Burial would be amazing in this deck. The only way it could be better is if you made an insect-specific foolish, with some other effect on top of it. CuriousHeartless
I'm tired so I'll post more responses later, but thanks for the comments, and Silent Strider and Noisy Gnat are real cards.
CuriousHeartless
Alright now that I'm awake...again, thank you for the comments. No Roach means destroyed in any way, hope that isn't too strong or anything since it can only search itself out. But I don't believe tributing a monster sets off "If destroyed" effects. All ATK boosts raised by 100 except Orchid Mantis's which was bumped to 150, Angelic Moth's shuffle ability which was upped to 400 because it was supposed to be double the normal boost, and Pheromone Queen who already had a good boost (and Plague Swarm now gives an additional 200 for each level 7 or higher because they count to both of its effects). Like I said, Noisy Gnat and Silent Strider are real, but for a quick explanation: They are level 2 Insects you can send from your hand to the graveyard to change one target's level for the rest of the turn. Noisy Gnat increases level by one, Silent Strider lowers it by one. Yes Colony Egg Tender should search for Grand Insect Imitation. Normal Insect Imitation is any monster so I think I'll leave Grand Insect imitation as generic even if it won't be used in anything generic. Mantis bumped to 1700, 2300 if you switch it to Plant and have four Insects. Courier adjusted a bit. Angelic Moth has lost its summoning conditions just because I like it a bit better this way. Wording fixed on Scarab and Gallactipede. I want to keep deck destruction on Galactipede to reference Aztekipede and Doom Dozer but milling one really isn't that good...would banishing one card from the top of the deck work? Insect Paladin changed up a bit. You think Army of Ants could work better if it made two tokens? A lot were made with the banishing to give Insects some sort of direction (inspired by Aztekipede and Doom Dozer) but not all of them play to that because I wasn't really trying to make an archetype. It also why Pheromone Queen doesn't really interact with banished cards. Yeah there is a problem that Insects really aren't good except for a handful of good ones (and a couple broken ones *coughInzektorscough*) and the good ones like Level Eater aren't used for Insect decks. That's part of why I made support cards to begin with. I'll post more cards, including the field spell Grand Hive that I've put in.
CuriousHeartless
Added three new traps that take the hand trap concept up a notch. Added Drone Empress. Also upped ATK on Ectoplasm Webber, Sun-Roller Scarab, and Galactipede.
