Scholar - First Six Monsters

So, these are the Scholars.The general mechanic involves discarding cards to trigger effects, which of course costs you hand advantage, so some effects are designed to trigger when discarded, others to discard.

 

The final aim of the game is probably either fusion or Xyz, but I'm still working on effects for those. The main things are - spell searching, so you can actually fuse, and ways to summon protection in the meantime.

 

So, we have:

 

Arien, Scholar of Literacy

Level 3 | Light | Spellcaster | Effect

ATK 1100 DEF 1300

If this card was sent to the GY this turn: Special Summon 1 "Scholar" monster of Level 3 or below from your hand. You can only activate the effect of "Arien, Scholar of Literacy" once per turn.

 

General summoner, keeps something on your field in case its destroyed.

 

Herala, Scholar of Physics

Level 3 | Fire | Spellcaster | Effect

ATK 1100 DEF 1400

If this card is discarded by a card effect: Special Summon it. If this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the GY, you can discard 1 card: add it to your hand.

 

Similar to the above, except it can summon itself.

 

Jazmin, Scholar of Chemistry

Level 3 | Water | Spellcaster | Effect

ATK 1400 DEF 1400

(Quick Effect) When you have 2 or more "Scholar" spell cards activated at the same time, you can discard 1 card: special summon 1 "Scholar" monster from your hand. You can only activate the effect of "Jazmin, Scholar of Chemistry" once per turn.

 

Special summons, but with a hard OPT limit.

 

Nevri, Scholar of Mathematics

Level 3 | Dark | Spellcaster | Effect

ATK 1200 DEF 1100

When this card is discarded: draw 2 cards. You can only activate this effect of "Nevri, Scholar of Mathematics" once per turn.

 

Slightly deals with loss of hand advantage by giving you more cards to work with in your hand.

 

Rashim, Scholar of Geography

Level 3 | Earth | Spellcaster | Effect

ATK 1200 DEF 1100

Discard 1 card: add 1 "Scholar" spell card from your deck to your hand, then: banish this card. If a Field Spell Card you control would be destroyed: if this card is in the GY: you can banish this card; the Field Spell is not destroyed.

Spell searcher, which is useful for fusions that will be happening at some point, and protection of your field spell.

 

Zestra, Scholar of Music

Level 3 | Wind | Spellcaster | Effect

ATK 1300 DEF 900

When this card is summoned, select 1 "Scholar" card in your GY: add it to your hand. This effect of "Zestra, Scholar of Music" can only be used once per turn. When this card is destroyed, you can discard 1 card: special summon this card in DEF position.

 

Once again, a little bit of hand protection, in case you discard too many, and also a way of keeping your field slightly safer in case of attack.

 

We also have the field spell from singles, last seen yesterday

Scholar’s Subject Library

Field Spell

Discard 1 card: you can Special Summon 1 "Scholar" monster from your hand or your GY. This effect of "Scholar's Subject Library" can only be activated once per turn. Once per turn, you can target 1 card on the field; discard 1 card; that card is unaffected by your opponent’s card effects until the opponent's next End Phase.

2 "Scholar" Monsters

Once per turn, you can declare the name of 1 "Scholar" card; add that card from your deck to your hand. If a monster co-linked to this card would be destroyed, you can destroy this card instead.

Searches a card from your deck you might need. Probably needs switching to hard OPT, and adding a cost, but oh well. Destroys self to protect other cards.

 

Dezan, Tutor of the Scholars

Link 3 | Light | Spellcaster | Link | Effect

ATK 2000

2+ "Scholar" Monsters

You can discard 1 card from your hand: draw 1 card. If this card is targeted for an attack: you can Special Summon 1 "Scholar" monster from your hand into a zone this monster points to, and change the target to that card. This effect of “Dezan, Tutor of the Scholars” can only be activated once per turn.

Draw engine to give you a slightly better hand, and can protect itself.

 

Jervai, Scholar Lecturer

Link 3 | Earth | Spellcaster | Link | Effect

ATK 2100

2+ "Scholar" Monsters

You can discard 1 card: target 1 "Scholar" card in your GY: special summon it in a zone this monster points to. This effect of “Jervai, Scholar Lecturer” can only be activated once per turn. Once per turn, you can discard 1 "Scholar" card; target one Spell/Trap card, and destroy it. If this card would be destroyed by battle, you can discard one "Scholar" card: negate that attack.
