Discuss about Dark Horus

I couldn't find a discussion regarding this guy, so here goes.

Unlike other "Dark" monsters, Dark Horus isn't nomi... and since he's LV8, you can use him as Trade-In food, and revive him with Prem/Reborn etc.

However, I think his effect is rather lack luster, and the Trade-In etc thing can be said for Blue Eyes too.

So yeah, discuss.

he effect starts a chain, since it says "when a spell card ACTIVATES..." so first comes the monster and then the spell resolves...

not so bad card, but dark decks wants to keep dark monsters on the grave until DAD appears... also the "trade in/allure" issue is not a good excuse to use it...

Out of the 12 existing Dark Counterparts - Rainbow Dark Dragon, Dark Horus, The Dark Creator, Dark Nephthys, Dark Armed Dragon, Dark Grepher, Darknight Parshath, Dark Simorgh, Arcana Force EX - THE DARK RULER, Darklord Zerato, Dark Valkyria, and Dark General Freed - only 4 - Rainbow Dark Dragon, The Dark Creator, Dark Armed Dragon, and Arcana Force EX - THE DARK RULER - are nomi.

Also, this is one of those rare cases where the Dark Counterpart is inferior to the original. Would you rather negate all spells, or punish your opponent for using a spell? That's what I though.

Hmm, I was probably only thinking of non TCG-exclusive, "big" Dark monsters released with PTDN when I said "Unlike other "Dark" monsters."

It seems like monsters which had mediocre effects before becoming Dark got great effects after they became Dark (Simorgh, for example), while the opposite happened for cards like this.

I admit, I'm currently testing a Zombie deck with one copy of Dark Horus, and he pretty much ends up being a 3000 ATK beatstick which attacks for game most of the time.

There was one case when Dark Horus managed to save itself after it chained to Fissure and revived Goblin Zombie, but that's the only noteworthy achievement.

Now that is a good idea, overextending in the opponent's turn, with weaklings!

Most of the time, you don't want to use his effect, and if you do, there is still a chance that the following spell will be LV.

I see it as nothing more than a beatstick.

And yeah, the original is so far superior compared.

I'm not sure about this, but it's once per turn, so it doesn't really count as overextending, right?

Also just remembered: Draw source with CoSR.

Play against better opponents. Seriously.

This card does have the advantage that it doesn't specify that it needs to be YOUR OPPONENT'S spell, so you can use your own Quick-Plays, but how many Quick-Plays would you want to use during the opponent's Main Phase?

I admit, people on Duel Online are very varied... there are times when a person using a strange deck pushes everyone online, or a guy using Lightlords loses 5 times in a row and disconnects without saying anything.

As for RL dueling... eh, most people are on Golden Week, so opponents are VERY limited right now.

Quick-plays during main phase... yup, can't think of many.
