Xengphu, the Impressor ~ New "God Card" for my Escape Set

Huntar!

Lately, for God Splice's Contest, I have been finishing up my Escape Monster set that was getting pretty good ratings.

I found this "Godly" image and I had to have it. I think you would/will really like it.

Card Lore:

This card cannot be Normal Summoned. This card can only be Special Summoned by tributing 4 monsters you control. This card cannot declare an attack if your opponent controls no monsters. Each time a WATER monster is destroyed, increase the ATK of this card by 400. This card can attack all monsters your opponent controls once. When this is targeted by the effect of a Spell Card, you can pay 2500 Life Points to negate the attack and place this card in Defense Position. This card must remain in Defense Position until your next End Phase.

That is true. So I guess you're right. Where could I see more escape monsters? Because if this is going to be a set then I want to see some trap and magic support and some monster support too. I also think that you could say that you should only pay 1500 LP to negate a magic card but decrease it's defense by 500. Otherwise it would be a great cost in LP.

I know but 1500 Lp is also a lot and if you decrease it's defense and make it go to defense position than it would actually be the same but not paying a great cost in LP but in monsters. You could give it an additional effect that says "When this card is in defense position decrease it's defense by 1000." Then it would be stable and balanced.

Well the point of the card is that it is to survive, not die. Even if the costs are great, it will survive as long as possible. If the DEF lowers, then he will be even harder to keep alive.

Schyshter, Can you please explain?

It would be much appreciated.

How do you find it overpowered, in the hopes of bettering my card and myself as a cardmaker.

Also, Post more than 1 word.

You win the discussion. If it's point is to survive not to make your LP survive then yes the card is perfect. Of course, if you use this card in a deck you should use it with a lot of restoring LP cards.

Most definitely lower the ATK. I, in fact, don't find the image to be as good as you put it. It doesn't matter if it's in DEF Position because it has 2800 + DEF which is just enough to avoid DaD which is usually as high as ATK goes in current decks.

Not a bad card, though.

well...

it cannot be Special Summoned, but, by the way the effect is worded, it can still be Set, thereby reducing the amount of tributes needed to get him out by 2...

effectively, this means it is still a 2 tribute monster. a 2 tribute monster with 3900 ATK and 2850 DEF...

the ATK increase it gets from its effect is okay, i guess, since i don't picture your opponent wasting their cards taking down other WATER monsters you control when this guy is out...

the fact that it cannot attack directly does water it down a bit, but it can still clear the field in one go...

that's about it, i think...

oh, and i do believe i have found 1 or 2 possible ocg errors...

"...once each."

"...negate the attack and place this card in Defense Position."

is this the intended effect or a typo?

if it is the former, i can only imagine 2 Quick-Plays that could be effective against this card when it attacks: ENEMY CONTROLLER and SHRINK...
