So what exactly defines a Tier in Yu-Gi-Oh? I'd also like to know what the different Tiers are, and what attributes a deck would need to qualify to be in a certain Tier. I hear stuff about Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 decks, what's all mean?

*Not funny, Crab. This is serious business. >..>

TIER may refer to:

* Taiwan Institute of Economic Research, one of two major economic research institutes in Taiwan

Tier may refer to:

* Tier (song), by German band Rammstein

* A layer in a multitiered software architecture

* Tier (emission standard), Vehicle and Gasoline Sulfur Program.

* A group of Cable networks offered together to subscribers, rather than separately

Crab, the question was in reference to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, which was not listed in your list of possible 'tier' references.

As for the question, I have never heard of tiers in the TCG. Where have you seen this?

I know. I was joking.

"Tiers" are basically levels of how competitive a deck is. For example, pre-PTDN, the tier list might have looked something like:

TOP TIER

LADD-PCM

HIGH TIER

Baburn

CO Burn

Diamond Dude Turbo

Macro Monarchs

Perfect Circle Monarchs

Soul Control Monarchs

MID TIER

Apprentice Monarchs

Big City

Hydro Monarchs

Six Samurai

Zombies

(I'm leaving out several decks for simplicity's sake, but you get the gist of it.)

IMO its all pretty much based on what's been top 16 (ing) lately at w/e SJC is recent ... and you go from there....(although what is consistent is tough to determine lately)... your local could be wildly different

like now

its

GB's are tier one (but its a specific GB with heraklinos, i guess prisma and gyzarus)

i supposed DaD is still tier 1

i would call oppression gadgets a tier 1.5 or 2

and lightlords evidently one some nats so i suppose whatever build was the top build is tier 1

sammies i suppose is tier 1.5

i have never actually heard anybody refer to anything really as less than tier 1.5

anything lower than 1.5 (maybe 2) could be called "jank" or "lucksack" by some

i mean IMO you just literally go to metagame and look at the top 16 or top 32 decklists

Oh~

So right now LS and DAD would be Top Tier' date=' right?

How much flexibility does a single deck have to move amongst the Tiers?

[/quote']

Well, if you consider "Monarchs" to be a single deck, September 2007 proved that different builds would be on vastly different tiers.

If you consider "Lightlords" to be a single deck, the last SJC showed them performing like a High Tier deck, but they could easily move up to Top Tier once we get better deckbuilders.

So am I correct to believe that tiers are decided on more or less a few SJCs?

exactly

after a few SJC's (say 3) there will be a new pack or set or tin or ban list

and thus the tiers will change

or somebody could just figure out how to beat the top tier decks as they get predictable after say 2 SJC's (or even one depending on how big a force they showed up in)

here we go again... :|

it appears crab has created an army of fail on this site

dang i dont want to get sucked in...back to old bleach episodes!!!!

in fact, you're the one who's about to fail... arguments or GTFO...

BTW: SJC can determine the tiers, but just in the USA... the world standing is determinated by the world championship... japan =/= USA =/= rest of the world
