「tea.leaf」
So what exactly defines a Tier in Yu-Gi-Oh? I'd also like to know what the different Tiers are, and what attributes a deck would need to qualify to be in a certain Tier. I hear stuff about Tier 1, Tier 2 and Tier 3 decks, what's all mean? *Not funny, Crab. This is serious business. >..>
CrabHelmet
TIER may refer to: * Taiwan Institute of Economic Research, one of two major economic research institutes in Taiwan Tier may refer to: * Tier (song), by German band Rammstein * A layer in a multitiered software architecture * Tier (emission standard), Vehicle and Gasoline Sulfur Program. * A group of Cable networks offered together to subscribers, rather than separately See also: Tier 1, Tier 2, and Emission standard
HORUS
So what exactly defines a Tier in Yu-Gi-Oh? Crab, the question was in reference to the Yu-Gi-Oh! Trading Card Game, which was not listed in your list of possible 'tier' references. As for the question, I have never heard of tiers in the TCG. Where have you seen this? 「tea.leaf」
Like DAD as a Tier 1 deck, or Macro Monarchs as Tier 2.

Trading Card Game, which was not listed in your list of possible 'tier' references.[/quote'] I know. I was joking. "Tiers" are basically levels of how competitive a deck is. For example, pre-PTDN, the tier list might have looked something like: TOP TIER LADD-PCM HIGH TIER BaburnCO BurnDiamond Dude TurboMacro MonarchsPerfect Circle MonarchsSoul Control Monarchs MID TIER Apprentice MonarchsBig CityHydro MonarchsSix SamuraiZombies (I'm leaving out several decks for simplicity's sake, but you get the gist of it.) 「tea.leaf」
Oh~ So right now LS and DAD would be Top Tier, right? How much flexibility does a single deck have to move amongst the Tiers?
hotfoilcard
IMO its all pretty much based on what's been top 16 (ing) lately at w/e SJC is recent ... and you go from there....(although what is consistent is tough to determine lately)... your local could be wildly different like now its GB's are tier one (but its a specific GB with heraklinos, i guess prisma and gyzarus) i supposed DaD is still tier 1 i would call oppression gadgets a tier 1.5 or 2 and lightlords evidently one some nats so i suppose whatever build was the top build is tier 1 sammies i suppose is tier 1.5 i have never actually heard anybody refer to anything really as less than tier 1.5 anything lower than 1.5 (maybe 2) could be called "jank" or "lucksack" by some i mean IMO you just literally go to metagame and look at the top 16 or top 32 decklists
CrabHelmet
Oh~ So right now LS and DAD would be Top Tier' date=' right? How much flexibility does a single deck have to move amongst the Tiers?[/quote'] Well, if you consider "Monarchs" to be a single deck, September 2007 proved that different builds would be on vastly different tiers. If you consider "Lightlords" to be a single deck, the last SJC showed them performing like a High Tier deck, but they could easily move up to Top Tier once we get better deckbuilders. HORUS
Gladiator Beasts have won 2 Shonen Jump Championships since PTDN. Where does that put them?
CrabHelmet
Gladiator Beasts have won 2 Shonen Jump Championships since PTDN. Where does that put them? If we're counting Chariot, Top Tier. Otherwise, they could swing between High and Top.

hotfoilcard
So am I correct to believe that tiers are decided on more or less a few SJCs? exactly after a few SJC's (say 3) there will be a new pack or set or tin or ban list and thus the tiers will change or somebody could just figure out how to beat the top tier decks as they get predictable after say 2 SJC's (or even one depending on how big a force they showed up in)

「tea.leaf」
Maybe I should set up some sort of equation that would put decks into Tiers. :/
Gravitize Me Cap'n!
Are you really that dense to believe that SJC winners determine tiers? Not even Pojo-ians are that ignorant, if you weren't a complete dolt, you'd realize that some scrub could easily just s[t]ack their way to day 2 (especially in a small showing). So tell me, were you born this funking stupid or did you work on it?
