Benraino
and since Chuck Norris supports this' date=' I shall support this as well[/quote'] Congradulations on being swayed because someone famous endorses something. Are you a scientologist because a lot of celebrieties are too? I won't support this because I think we need to find alternate fuel resources. What people who say that fail to understand is that finding an alternative fuel rescource isn't going to magically happen. While we are trying to find an alternative fuel rescource, gas prices are constantly sky rocketing. And our only options are hybrids, which are very expensive. So please, reconsider not signing the petition just because we want another fuel rescource. It's not like we cant search for that answer WHILE acting on this answer. So people can't take public transportation, walk, carpool or ride bikes to save money? People are still going to pay for gas because we are in need of oil. I believe that we shouldn't be dependant on oil and by reducing the cost of oil, we become more dependant on it.

So you're telling me that if we drill here for shale oil and don't share it with the rest of the world, our prices are still going to be going through the roof? And If we are all going to take public transportation and walk what's the point of even having a car? We spend a lot of money on trying to come up with these mystery fuel alternatives, but it doesn't work that way. You can't just find an alternative fuel from nowhere. If we lower gas prices, we wont become dependent upon it. But we will rather cut every car owner in America a lot of slack. And even those who don't own a car will be cut some slack because the value of the dollar will increase.

Willieh
this is a interesting thread but whats it for we dont need to worry about his stuff On the contrary we do need to be worried about this stuff. This is the world we are going to be spat into. We can't change that. But we can help to better our economy so that life will be easier for us when we do have to put up with the matters of the world. v8561v
You wanna know what the USA really needs??It needs alternative fuels, especially that these new fuels are cheap and less agressive with the.....hmmm....I forgot how to say......everithing that's natural. Guest Supreme Gamesmaster
Isn't the United States finding new solutions on alternative fuel? Here on Brazil we already use alchool and diesel' date=' made from plants, wich is cheaper and less-poluting that petroil.[/quote'] Yeah, hydrogen fuel cells, which is about as efficient as we're gonna get without quantum generators. They're just taking time to implement.

The whole point of the alternative methods I mentioned were to cut people's dependency on thier car. By doing this, they won't need to as much money as they need to. Do you understand what people do when they research alternative fuel? If we lower gas prices, people will just buy more of it and we will continue to be dependant on it. Also, when we lower prices back down, the price will still rise because there is a such a high demand for it.
samer_13
I agree with Benraino and all he says, and with all the cars in the world we are pulloting the ozone layer, and i don't know about you guys but i don't like to burn up by the gamma radiation that oyur sun is releasing. Do you understand what people do when they research alternative fuel? If we lower gas prices, people will just buy more of it and we will continue to be dependant on it. Also, when we lower prices back down, the price will still rise because there is a such a high demand for it. Cars are good. If they aren't, there's no point to this argument. Cars allow ground travel that's utterly impossible by foot, bicycle, etc. in a very short time. Are we clear? If not, stop reading this now. Hybrid cars are also good. However, they are very expensive and inefficient at the moment. Therefore, we must use alternative fuel. Ethanol, fuel based on corn, seemed to be a good replacement for petroleum. However, it proved to be more pollutive than petroleum was. Therefore, the search continued. Directly harnessing solar energy would be ideal. However, current solar energy conversion is very inefficient, and expends more energy than it produces. The accessibility of solar energy is also fickle. Moving on... Hydrogen fuel cells, which are safer, more efficient, and more environmentally friendly, are in production in the USA now, as are cars that use said fuel cells. However, the technology is yet unrefined to the point of ludicrous cost. Therefore, petroleum is the only solution right now. Drilling for oil in America would mean immense environmental destruction, which would only be sped up by the use of said oil. However, alternative fuel research is being funded and done at its maximum speed, so there's nothing we can really do about it until hydrogen fuel cells enter full production roughly next year. The response is simple: find where in America oil drilling would do the least environmental damage, and go through with it on a relatively small scale. If civilians discovered where it would be safest to drill for oil themselves, and then petitioned Congress to go through with a one-year drilling plan, the dollar would rise in value until hydrogen fuel cells emerge and send its value higher. It would be economically fiscal and environmentally safe to the largest degree possible. NOW STOP ARGUING, YOU TWO.
Mariojo2
At this rate fuel will be 10 dollars a gallon. I will support.
