Willieh
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DSGy-JGofM Honestly this video made me sick. And it was actually shown in a school my friend went to [(summer school; it had a different title)]. Now when I see this, several things come to my mind, none of them are good. Basically, if you choose not to watch the video, it says that white people were cowardly back during slavery, and wouldnt stop causing problems. Now, they portray the white person in this film, as being savages basically. It says we continuously wiped out races and killed people relentlessly because we were such cowards. Now the reason I didnt put this into the YouTube topic is; The education system of America is WAY out of line. People say that it is necessary to have an education in America. But i think that it is pointless to have an education when they give you such a narrow-minded view of everything. When I saw this, it really made me wonder about just how narrow-minded the school system is. When in school you look at everything from the liberal point of view. You never look at it through the republican point of view. They always told me, and amazingly tried to convince me, that republicans were just power/money hungry rich people who did bad to the comman man. This is false. It is the democratic people in congress who are causing us so much trouble with gas money. The republicans are trying to help us lower taxes and gas prices, and do away with the wel-fair system. Now you may think that doing away with the wel-fair system is heartless and mean. However, a lot of republicans are trying to invoke the Fair Tax system. (to learn more about the fair tax system go here). Our teachers tell us that the fair tax system would do us even worse than the tax we have right now. But if you read about the fair tax system, you will learn that this is false as well. So i guess the topic for this thread is; What do you think about the American education system? Is it misleading, or do you agree with what they teach? I'm not saying anyone is wrong on this, I'm just saying that it is a little narrow-minded the way that teachers teach. So what do you think?

Willieh
Maybe where you live, im not going to say your wrong because i've never been to Aussy, but in America Republicans try to do the best for the people. And basically, people base all republicans on Bush. Really Bush didn't do THAT bad of a job. And most people who tell you Bush is bad, can't give you one supportive reason. But basically, i'm talking more about the school system. They told me (word for word) "Republicans used to be better than they are now, because back in the older days they were more like Democrats. And vise versa." Only half of that statement is true though. Republicans used to be worse back then because they were like Democrats. I'm just saying that the school system only delivers half of the message (the part that makes republicans look bad). And I think that the Government is trying to do that to us. I think they want to raise the kids to be narrow-minded little drones who will only look at 1 side of the story.
Wyhe
In Singapore, there is only 1 politics-Lee Kuan Yew/PAP is No. 1!!! or something like that. You can't even express any hatred or doubt for his actions or else or you're dead meat...
Willieh
Thats almost a dictatorship (if it isn't really considered one). This is the way it works... dictatorship- Can be a good government for the Nation, not necessarily for the citizens. Really isn't a good choice of leadership however. Democracy- "2 wolves and a sheep deciding whats for dinner". True democracy is almost anarchism, which puts the people with too much power. Willieh
So, in a sense, It's kind of like the situation with China during world war 2 where Tojo lead?
