Lol, I incorrectly worded that statement. What I meant is that it would never fly with the public. And it would probably be very hard to cover up the killing of all those elderly. And a lot of it depends on how old you consider elderly. Children consider 30 elderly. I consider 81+ elderly. Plus many people in the public would MUCH rather pay higher taxes than lose their family members. (once again, not saying that the public would have to kill the elderly.)

Taxes are a must and are needed, it's the way that the government can pay for the roads you drive, for the dams they build for you to drink, for the power to drive the computer your using, for the farms your eating food from and for a lot of stuff. You may go on and say "Well if i pay taxes then how will i buy stuff" and that's the general public's opinion. For taxes to be affective and useful to both the general public and the government the have to be balanced and at a rate that majority of the country can easily afford them but should still be enough for the government. Unfortunately such a rate isn't there so there is always trouble, the tax system should increase and decrease each year according to the rise and fall of the currency's price and some other factor. In a nutshell increase in taxes is only going to help if it's will planned and the increase will help the government without causing much harm to individuals, in such cases the rise is more of a blessing then a curse.

The government hardly ever does anything for the community with the taxes they collect. And the people who are really poor are given no slack at all when it comes to taxes (this would be our best bet...). If the taxes are going up, and the value of the dollar is going down, lot's of people are going to be harmed by the raised taxes. My mother is almost homeless as it is; giving her this tax raise would cause a substantial amount of harm to her.

We already lost what all of these good symbols stand for anyway, The Statue of Liberty stands in Irony at this point thanks to radical Conservafascism *cough*PATRIOT-ACT*cough* having a lot of power in our system. Taxes pay for your education, and make sure society can continue the way it is going. What they don't need to go towards is military, ours is already "bigger than the rest of the world's military combined" - and that's from a One Star General of the Army. As far as I'm concerned, education is much more important than Gas.

 

And higher taxes does nothing about useless spending, it just gets more useful and useless spending in. Some people just don't know how to run a country *cough*Reagan*cough* and some just try their best *cough*George W. Bush*cough* and don't do such a good job.
