Considering all the StH fanfics in the world, I'm shocked little to none of them have made it to YCM. Hopefully, this will fix it. The basic premise is that Sonic, a prince à la SU, is on some diplomatic thing to another kingdom when he tries to stop the Red Dragon-esque secret police from beating a civilian and gets arrested. He's then put into several challenges, most of which offer the penalty of death for himself and other prisoners in the case of his failure, for the entertainment of King Nega. However, the princess takes an interest in him, and secretly supplies him with various bits of paraphrenalia to help him survive the tasks.

Personality: Blaze is the cynically cunning heiress to Eggman Nega. She's built a peculiar network of contacts with many of her "father's" suppliers, and therefore has a massive wealth of weapons and gadgets at her disposal. Though usually cut-off and introverted, she's taken an interest in Sonic for reasons she can't explain.

Personality: Silver is a naïve, idealistic rebel against King Nega's tyranny. He's inquisitive and morally sound, though this occasionally presents itself as blissful ignorance and emotional insecurity. He's always trying to disrupt the King's machinations.

He's purely evil and psychopathic, only makes alliances to further his own gains and ambitions- domination over the Planet Earth. Usually likes mocking his opponents, he is a master of psychology with an IQ of 800. It doesn't even matter if he's too weak to fight- he can manipulate others to do his own bidding.

[spoiler=The Incredibly Short Prologue: Scam]

Well, I have to admit, Sonic admitted to himself, I’m not exactly impressed.

 

The entire square looked dismal. There were about sixty small, square, grey, dilapedated homes about him, each one exactly the same as those surrounding it. There was only a wide road to separate them; Sonic stood on that road himself.

 

“So this is the supposed ‘great kingdom’ of High Emperor Nega?” Sonic scoffed, glaring around at his surroundings. “These are friggin’ ghettos.”

 

He decided to walk instead of run, for the sole purpose of detecting change. Sonic had been sent here by his siblings, who were taking far more readily to ruling his home kingdom of Mobius than he was. Apparently, they’d been too busy when they’d received the message from ‘High Emperor Nega’ to send an important figure to his kingdom for diplomatic purposes, so Sonic had been volunteered for the task instead. He was starting to wish he’d never come, though: it was entirely the same for about a minute — and then he heard the sound.

 

He had no idea what it was, but anything making noise in the silence of the High Emperor’s slums was cause for investigation to him. When he arrived, he saw his first forms of sentient life. Two red-armored rats were aiming blasters at a young wolf.

 

“Now just come quietly, and we won’t blow you to pieces!” one of them said boredly.

 

“No, I’ll never come!” the wolf argued.

 

Sonic zipped over, immediately intrigued. “So, what’s this guy arrested for?” he asked. “Pretty serious?”

 

“He’s being arrested for ‘speaking treasonous lies regarding the almighty and invincible high emperor Nega,’” the bored-sounding rat replied.

 

“King Nega doesn’t deserve such dissent throughout our populace!” the other one said pompously, drawing himself up to what he evidently thought was an impressive height.

 

“You’re seriously arresting him for criticizing your king?” Sonic asked in disbelief. The first rat to speak looked like he somewhat agreed, but the other one just looked angry.

 

“You, sir,” he raged, “are in violation of the law as well! We dictate that you are speaking treasonous lies of the Secret Police, long may they serve the great King Nega!”

 

“Oh, please,” the hedgehog said flippantly. “That’s seriously a crime? You can do something about it?”

 

The guard responded by shooting him.
