Was Jesus Really God?

From my perspective? He is simply a man who stood up for what he believed in. Albeit a truly rare sight for people to take their beliefs that far, a belief it is no less....

A hero he is, a god he is not.

I'm Christian' date=' yes

I'm not 100% convinced of anything

But that doesn't mean I'm not open to ideas

Is Jesus God?

I don't know

Is it possible?

Yes it is

But no one knows for sure anyway

At least not until we die and find out

[/color']

somewhat same here but the only diffrence is I think jesus was god. To be perfect.. only god can be that.

1) Was is past tense. So does that mean he got demoted to Demi-God or something? lol

[/icebreaker]

2) Despite this being a religious debate, based on the prospect that you must be alive to know this. Is he a god?

3) Perfect? If he was he would have seen the people who did those events to him as a bad thing LONG before he was crucified. And would not have died for these sins.

I really dont like bashing religion openly like this. But geez o_o".....

Also, remember the Invisible Pink Unicorn. And it being born that way, can you prove its existence? No you can't. Your going off a loose statement.

You all know DJ's gonna lock this thread eventually if it turns into a thread that assumes god's existence right?

In that respect, Jesus may have existed, and whether or not he did is irrelevant, if he did, he was no Deity, just a man whose initiative and mix of Eastern ethic and Western Religion changed the life of those who existed during his time, and the men who rewrote his philosophy as a tool to control the masses and theocrize the world after Constantine's death changed what Christianity really was prior to that, and made it into a fallacial death machine of ignorance and brutality.

Well' date=' Jesus is God's Son, and both are Holy and do not sin. So, they are basically one person. I read the Bible, so, yeah. Don't worry about you other religion believers, I still respect your religion :D

Even if they commit an act that would normally constitute a sin?

You should watch this. And really take into account what the message is.

Like Clariex, I'm not 100% sure of anything, but I believe it's very possible that Jesus was God. I mean, there is historical proof that he lived and existed, though no proof of his miracles have been found (though I wonder if hundreds of people who recorded history in that era would make those up).

I like to meld religeon with science as well, and it honestly helps explain things to me better.

There are parts of the bible I can't really believe - after all, it is said that it was originally written by men who were guided by God, but that doesn't mean that the people who have reprinted it over and over again in the many centuries it's existed were guided by God - people can become easily corrupt and change things.

I choose to have faith that he was, at the very LEAST, a powerful and good man guided by God, if not God himself. It's better than believing you're just gonan rot in the ground when you die and have nothingness.

Anywho, I'm pretty sure he was God, and I'll stick by that.

And just to clear up Icyblue's question(?), yeah, he already knew that people were going to crucify him and all, but he chose not to stop it because it was necessary for him to die for the people's sins - that way, they could be allowed to repent for all future generations instead of having to do the passover thing.

Eh, dying for what he believes in to help the masses. Kudos to him for that lol, and a great saint or Martyr which ever he should be called. And I idolize him for that....

But my first opinion stands, as I do not see him as a God like Entity.

I'm about to burst some bubbles.

[spoiler=don't read if you are a heavy christian]

The concept of god defys all logic. It makes no sense. Consider these two things:

-God is all-knowing. If he is all-knowing, why would he create animals that he knows are going to hell. ?

-Hitler was a catholic and believed in god and worshipped god, so he went to heaven. All the jews he killed didn't believe the concept of jesus being god, so they are in hell.

Those two things are alone why either god does exist, and is a complete dick head. Or god doesn't exist.

Take that into consideration.
