Requiem for a Dream.

No, this thread isn't about the song that epitomizes epic, though I listened to it about three times through since I started writing this thread.

This thread is about what it is to achieve "Legendary Member" status.

So far, after 4,999 posts, I see absolutely no significance (less than 1/4998) in what difference having one more post will really make. The status means nothing, it is merely a blank milestone, something that kept enough members going to actually achieve it.

But what is desire without significance, is it the desire to go down as something, a legend, or is it something more? 5000 posts on an internet forum just say that you have spent all too much time on this site. What, Bloodrun got 10,000 yesterday, and at least 5 months handicapped from my join time? Why do we bother with this, why do we feel the need to be better than others on the internet?

If someone could explain why they went after this goal, especially those who went after their status it with such a passion; why is it so important to be elite in some way to another, when I can give you a short paragraph explaining how at least 4 other non-legendary members, limit me not to active users, have been more contributing members to the boards than most of the legendary members, which probably means YOU? (the "You" in this thread is directed at other members who think achieving Post Count Milestones is a big deal)

Why does being better than other people, perceiving yourself as elite, appeal to you?

This isn't a debate, I'm not arguing with anyone, I just want an answer to the above question.

I'm officially more legendary than I was before. Who knew that one post was that significant? =/

It isn't the post count. Nor is the post count more then just something to get to, while you spend time learning about other people.

The reason is isnt about the posts. is becuase its about the time, and about learning (like i said) about other people, and as, forcing(agree with me or not) your view of topics, upon other people.

And just because its the internet. It doesnt mean its different then the real world. People tend to be more honest, when their serperated between a computer screen, and internet cable, and about 200 miles of land.

One post, or 10,000. It's friendship we thrive for(again, agree with me, or not).

To me, a Legendary Member, doesn't entitle a number of posts. Yet, the amount of time that user has spent on this site, learning about other members, etc..

The word Internet was not there for any real meaning or purpose to the point of the thread. It was just for the effect that the word "Internet" has on people when they read things.

I didn't even notice when I passed 5000. >_>

You're the best of us then.
