The card is not designed to stop your opponent destroying your monsters, could not a simple counter trap suffice? 3 turns later you will have your opponent open in return. Now imagine this card being activated when your opponent uses Dark Hole or the likes. When your opponent decides to destroy all of the cards on the field, because he has none.
