[align=center]Well, I've been hinting at them the past couple days, and I finally finished hammering out the rules and the first few prototypes. Credit for the original card that sparked this idea for me, as well as the name "Rebirth", goes to bluekyubbi, so many thanks to him ^_^

 

Anyway, back to Rebirth Spells, here are the rules:

1. Rebirth Spells look mostly just like other Spells, with a name and effect, but they have something extra in the effect area. On the first line, in {} brackets, is the activation requirement for that card. Rebirth Spells (like Push Spells) don’t activate normally like other spells, they can only activate when sent to the Graveyard, and even then have a special requirement, basically a cost, for them to activate.

2. To use a Rebirth Spell, wait for it to get sent to the Graveyard, whether by discarding it for another card, discarding it for having 7 or more cards in your hand, or by having it get sent from the Deck to the Graveyard. You cannot Set Rebirth Spells on the field. The instant a Rebirth Spell hits the Graveyard a special Rebirth Chain forms with any other Rebirth Spells also hitting the Graveyard then adding links to that chain. To resolve links in a Rebirth Chain, you look at each card (starting with the last one, just like a normal chain), check it’s activation requirement, and decide (if you can meet the requirement) whether or not you’ll use the card. Whichever cards you do decide to use are placed in your open Spell & Trap Card Zones like normal Spells and they begin a new, normal chain, or are added to an existing chain if one exists. You must meet the requirements at this time (as in, if it says {Discard 1 card.}, now is when you discard the card). From there, it resolves just like a normal chain would, with the last link resolving first and so forth.

3. After a Rebirth Spell is activated, whether or not it successfully resolves (as in, even if it’s negated and/or destroyed by cards like Magic Jammer), it is placed in a special Zone next to the field called a Rebirth Zone. This Zone is not considered in the Graveyard or removed from play, and the only way to get cards out of this Zone is with cards that specifically mention the Rebirth Zone (support cards, in other words).

4. If you choose not to activate a Rebirth Spell when it’s sent to the Graveyard, it remains there, unactivated, and you can target it like any other Spell in your Graveyard.

When this card would be Normal Summoned, instead Special Summon 1 "Mirror Token" (Fairy-Type/LIGHT/ Level 2/ATK 500/DEF 500) in Defense Position. "Mirror Tokens" cannot be Tributed for a Tribute Summon. This card cannot be Summoned except during your next turn after a "Mirror Token" you control was attacked but was not destroyed.

Definitely for this thread comments and suggestions for improvement would be most helpful, especially if you see something in the rules that I missed, that doesn't quite work, or that is just confusing. Let me know and I'll do my best to fix it ^_^

Lol, nice. And, I suppose you could be correct about the pics, but I really wanted to use them for something. Thanks for the comments ^_^

You made more of this than me, so most of the credit goes to you...

Basic ideas? Why? T.T More complication! Like Rebirth Monsters that can be substituted for an effect...or you could ignore my overcomplication. ^_^ W/e. Good cards anyway, Rebirth Zone FTW!

OCG is great, Pic are great - I'm a huge fan of the "Chaos" style abstract pics, effects are balanced and effective, plus a new innovation made to the game so I must applaud you for that.

 

Card Ratings: 8/10 - I think this should be the DARK effect rather than LIGHT, 9/10, 8/10, 8/10, 8/10 - I think this should be the LIGHT effect rather than DARK, 9/10 - I think you can increase the damage to 200 and not have too much problem with the card.

Group Rating: 50/60 = 8/10.

 

Innovation Bonus inclusion: 9.5/10 - very nice stuff, innovation is always good. Thank you for the great idea Darth

Interesting idea, but it seems like you went really far for a theme that could've been just as easily done with a "When this card is sent to the Graveyard, if you control a [attribute] monster, this card can be activated from your Graveyard."

 

The addition of the "Rebirth Zone" is really the unique part, I guess, since the symbol addition just complicates the matter. It's a big push in a good direction, I kind of like it, but the only three examples I'd use would be the Light, Dark, and maybe Fire ones.

Well, these 6 are just the first ones I've made, there will be more with varying requirements to activate. As for the complicatedness, I basically didn't want to put the same phrase on the top of all of them: "This card cannot be activated unless it was sent to the Graveyard first and you must...blah blah blah" or something like that. It's a lot easier to just put the requirement on it and add the symbol which represents all the rules than to type that on every single card :P

Lol, yayz!! And, yes, I'm definitely making more. As for monsters, the new type doesn't directly involve monsters at all, but I will for sure make some monsters with support specifically for Rebirth Spells, and probably even the Rebirth Zone ;)
