@Icyblue: I tried the way you suggested' date=' and Phoebe still attacked Lily...and over a cookie(a dog cookie).

Can you explain the exact thing that you did and how it happened? (I knew Phoebe would attack. It came on the responsibility of Lily to catch the hint, nor did I expect it to work right away).

okay, so we put Phoebe on one side and Lily on the other side of a gate. Phoebe jumped over the gate and attacked Lily who was doing nothing except eating. Lily is old and has Arthritis, so she can't do anything about Phoebe attacking her viciously.

Off Topic:

Also just 5 minutes ago I found a cat on my walk with Phoebe and the cat is so scared. We are trying to return the cat to his owner, but Phoebe makes the cat hide and we can't find him.

Get a bigger gate.

Then, do as you did before (with the gate and giving Lily a cookie), but try to calm Phoebe. If she doesn't try to attack Lily for a minute or 2, give her a cookie as well. Then, if she tries to attack, give Lily a cookie. Then repeat. (note; never give Lily a cookie without letting Phoebe have a chance to get a cookie). Then, extend the amount of time Phoebe must stay calm. Continue this until you feel comfortable, then you can either;

a) Remove the gate, but still give Phoebe cookies, if you're more comfortable.

b) Stop giving Phoebe cookies, if you're still a bit worried. (note; don't give Lily more than one cookie here)

If you try the former and Phoebe attacks again, immediately separate them with the gate until you're still comfortable. If Phoebe refuses to settle down after this, then just try to put them in different parts of the house. Then try it again in an hour or two. If you try the latter and Phoebe tries to attack again, then go back to giving cookies, until you're comfortable again. Once you feel 100% confident, remove the gate and place a cookie by each of them. If they both eat their own and Phoebe doesn't attack, then everything should be fine. However, you may want to repeat the last thing every day or so.

Hope I helped! ^^'

Phoebe is very greedy and will scratch the gate so much that we'll have to buy a new one. I guess that could work though, thanks very much!

Wow. I assume you mean it'll be really scratched but not broken, right? If so, then you could try and find a cheap metal one. =\

Or paint it and call it a new style :P

I said restrain her, a gate won't do what you want ._."....

If worst comes to worst, train Phoebe as a Guard Dog until she calms.

lol Retraining with a leash/chain forces Lily to take the initiative to make friends, which is what you want :?.

Also, Lily can run away should Phoebe get vicious so there is no chance of attack.
