Guest Star
The common people have risen up against the king, and the two mage armies are in a war. You, as a new mage, can choose one spell to use in battle. Which is your choice? Make sure your choice won't hurt you in the long run. Guest Star
Fissure obviously. Why is a card that destroys a face-up monster with the lowest ATK be better than a card that can destroy any face-up monster?

This one time, I was dueling this guy, and he played Dian Keto the Cure Master, and I was like, I'm going to lose because my opponent gained 1000 Life Points. I was so nervous. BulletMan
Soul Taker: destroys 1 monster of your choice. but your opponent gains 1000. I guess some body who ran a bad reaction deck would love this card. but ive never played against 1 so IDK. Fissure: targets a specific target. monster with lowest ATK. but if your opponent controls only 1 monster, it gets pulled down by a giant creepy hand. But lots of tuners have low ATK. i dont believe it targets cards with ? ATK, if im right. this 1 goes to fissure. -giant hand comes from the ground and picks up an oscar.hear a voice from no where say "I except this award for all my Spell card friends, my pet Scape goats, and my wife Graceful Charity. sorry pot of Greed got banned. THANKS!" XDDDD
Xemba
Wait, for gadgets and monster destruction based decks could you runSoul Taker x 2Smashing Ground x 1 well, without it being that situational, because Smashing isn't that bad. Kale
soul taker is obviously better. this allows you a choice because the card doesnt choose for you. so what if your opponent gets 1000 extra LP? usually people attack with monsters stronger than 1000 ATK, so it makes up for it... and with bad reaction... this card is nice. ^_^
The Dark One
As a rule Soul Taker is NOT better, but neither is played as a rule in mainstream decks anyways. However, In cureburn, Soul Taker is simply awesome.

Skuldur
Soul Taker is better, 1000 lifepoints gain means very little in this format. And you get to choose but still Raigeki>>all :P
Guest Star
You could have just named this topic: Fissure vs. Soul Taker. You could have just made a worthwile post in this topic. Fissure is good, but Soul Taker allows you to choose which monster to destroy, and that's simply better.
Jesus
Fisure. The only reasoning is, If I were a mage, I would not want to increase my opponent's health. I'd rather take a Hawk Approach to it.
