Vanillas/normals aren't bad. Sure, effect cards are more intresting, but u shouldn't rate a card lowly because of it's color.

I agree with most of the others that it is better to have it as an effect monster. The thing that takes the most time and effort when making a card is the effect, and it's what the principle part of our rates is based upon. However, because you are new the "lack of effort" part should not be accounted for until you have a bit more experience. Description is pretty good for once too, and it's good that you made it Sea Serpent-Type instead of Dragon-Type.

this card isnt very creative, its just a description of a picture on a fancy tan frame. ^_^

 

try adding an effect next time for more creativity, because then it gets an accurate rating.

 

on a scale for Normal Monsters, this get basically a 100%, sense there is nothing wrong with it. but with that, it becomes lack luster.

 

try an effect next time, my friend. ;)
