Before you know it' date=' politics will be exorcised of religious-targeted campaigning, amongst other good things.

Maybe Scientology might disappear too, you know?

Discuss.

I wish there wasn't anything about religion in politics right now.

'Cause seriously, if someone that isn't christian has some fantastic plans for the country that would lead us into a new age, why the hell wouldn't we want him for President?

^ Because people are just like that.

Giving people taxes for their religion is ridicolous.

People ALSO believe that Christians are TOP DOG, and are much better, and stomp over all other people's a***s

Not true. If someone were Muslim, and they saved the world, they should the SAME EXACT respect as a Christian saving the world.

Yes, I know, wierd Hypothetical thing, it's what I had

Ok. Here's how it goes. The Constitution guarantees separation of Chuch and State. State is any government. Taxes are imposed by the federal government, as well as local and state government. For a Church to be exempt from taxes violate the Separation of Church and State. Its as simple as that.

But religion is already a focus when discussing issues.

Moral values, ethics, what do you think are?

Not to mention religion plays an integral role in campaigning.

Ethics have nothing to do with religion. Religion is unethical. Maybe if the churches were taxed, they would not be such a big part of compaigning.

The point isn't the taxation of churches, 'cause they would still be a big thing.

People have the natural tendency to distrust those of different beliefs or values (even when they are pretty darn similar). They find that if you are different in any way, you can't be trusted. Because of this, people are judging who should be our leaders simply by what they believe in and not wholy on what they really stand for outside of religion.

Churches aren't a business. They get (most of) their money from Tithing.

Simply put' date=' they'd be forking over money from donations to the government.

Lol at taxing religion xD

So its organized pan-handling. Lets arrest everyone with a collection plate.

"Churches can keep their tax free status, as long as they're also fine without going with civil services.

What's that pastor? The church is on fire? Well... better pray for rain then 'cause the fire department's not coming."

Good point... If they're not paying for them, they shouldn't reap the benefits.

Religion is being taxed.

Look on the dollar be "In god we trust"

look what happens when you own that dollar bill, you have to pay to keep your money >_>

Religion, brings hypocrisy in so many different levels.

I doubt scientology will leave anytime soon, since were nearing the "scientific era" >_>

I honestly hate the church, it was all made up for the government to make money and target the less-fortunate who put faith in god because they are where they are. God is government, and we all respond because we have nothing else to believe in. "Give 10% of your money to the church"... sounds like a load of sheet to me. We base everything off of religion, I hate it, and there are so many holes in it I just wish it would die!
