Okay, there is some ignorance on both parties here.

 

America is an alright country along the lines of history if you don't solely focus on war. Outside of some of our wars making us look bad (Ex: Iraq), we did some good when we fought for our independence and to help the world against a powerful group that was doing quite a bit of damage (Ex: Germany in WW1 and 2). We may not have been necessary in some wars (Ex: WW1, even though we helped), but we at least helped and didn't simply sit there and allow even a small chance of the people in the wrong to win.

 

Towards the whole Indian deal: We killed Indians, yes. So did the British, French, and Spanish. We just did more since we had more time.

 

Revolution: We fought for our freedom, not solely on taxes as someone had stated (read a history book please, there are numerous reasons including forced quartering of soldiers), and we needed help, yes. There are quite a few countries that fought for independence or won theirs with the help of other nations.

 

Japan: Yea, we nuked them. Congratulations, you've passed the 5th grade, you get a star sticker. We told them that if they didn't utterly surrender we were gonna destroy a lot of stuff, and they refused (They wished for the Emperor to remain in power, but the Emperor himself refused the surrender). The Japanese did attempt to surrender to Russia (without telling the US, how were we supposed to know?), but that resulted in nothing. So we bombed them

 

Bush: He's stupid, we get it. We make fun of him all the time. He's done lots of stupid things, but he did aid in a few small things, nothing major but still helpful in some way.

 

Americans as a whole: We're pretty bad, yep. But that's the problem with humanity, actually, we have tons of idiots running around and they get more attention than the intelligent ones (see pro-America and pro-McCain posts). We've got tons of biggots (If you don't know what it means, look it up), a lot of people who believe limiting rights means more freedom for some reason (see "pro-life"), and we think that other forms of governments are terrible. Then again, there are tons of these in all countries, well, at least tons of biggots.

 

 

Once more: Both parties in this argument are in the wrong. Almost all countries have something to be proud of. What I don't understand is how the entirety of the American culture is based solely on just wars? We've done a lot more than just fight.
