JesusofChaos™
Im doing a presentation in archaeology about the cave paintings in Lascaux and one particular piece of iconography has got me confused. Some sites have summarised that it is depicting crop rotation, however this is not possible as agriculture did not occur till 10,000 years later. If you need more information on Lascaux visit this website: http://www.culture.gouv.fr/culture/arcnat/lascaux/en/ I need help determining the context in which these symbols are used. Skuldur
well those are farm animals. Maybe it's clothing or maybe agriculture did occur during that time period
JesusofChaos™
There was no domesticated animals 17,000 years ago. These are wild horses and Ox. Also if it were clothing it seems extremely random positioning. Humans are not depicted throughout the cave so it is highly doubtful that clothing would be pictured

Willieh
Looks like some type of patch-work quilt to me... Either that or a fault line under the earth. But I don't think there's any chance of it being that. :/
