First splice

Well you have a good number of problems. First and most obvious is that you should have shrunk your canvas. The image is too big for such a small thing. If you're using paint like I assume, then what you need to do is grab the little gray box at the corner of all the white in the bottom right, you then click and drag. This will let you alter the image size.

The next big issues you have is that you save as a .jpeg. This is a huge no no in spriting. This drops the quality of the sprite by a lot. When saving the image, you need to make it a .png. You do this by either adding .png to the end of the file name, or you go to the drop down box on the save screen and click on .PNG.

You lack recoloring completely. You have too many colors going on, and non of it blends at all. f you don't know how, try finding a tutorial on it. I know my splicing guide covers on how to recolor in paint, and there are many more tuts for other programs and more for paint too.

You also have an issue with placement. You have an arm not attached to the body, but sticking to the forehead. The tail is all chopped up and floating a the top. The wing is detached in a few areas, and lacks a second one to go with it.

You also have a problem with textures. Voltorb is smooth and round, the arms are rocky and rough, the wings is dusty and flaky. None of the pieces agree with each other at all.

So you have a lot of things you need to work on.
