A Card Game of my very own creation!

Hey everyone I’m making my own card game and I just want to get a quick review on it if you guys wish to review it. It’s called Chaos Wars (Subject to change) and here is what a card looks like,

DjinnofthePyro.jpg

(the border around it is supposed to be red not green) , (I currently only have 73 cards made, the first set is going to have around 144)

Some of my friends think this is a rip-off of Yugioh but I beg to differ. The game play is slightly similar but there are some differences too, such as the playing field,

ChaosWarsCardLayout.jpg

(this isn‘t like one of the Place mats this is just what I use as an example to show what the playing field is like)

As you can tell the only real similarity to the Yugioh field, besides the deck zone, is the Monster Zone, but what can you really change about that. Instead of having Life Points you have what are called shield cards, these are placed in the Shield Zone to the left of your deck. When an opponent’s monster like the one above attacks when you have no monsters on your field, you lose a shield card, and the card is added to your hand. The shield cards aren’t special cards either, just before you start the game you take the top 5 cards in your deck and place them like it shows above. Also there isn’t a Spell or Trap zone, but there is a Lasting Spell Zone. When you activate a magic card (no traps in this game) you place it in your monster zone just to show your opponent, then you send it to the Cemetery (you also don‘t play them face-down) but there are Magic Cards called Continues Spells, and you can have up to 5 of these placed in your Lasting Spell Zone at once.

Now my friends always say what is the fun in a game without a surprise, in other words, why can’t you play face down cards. Well there are different types of Magic cards. There are the Normal cards, which are played during your turn from your hand. Continues cards, which are placed, in your Lasting Spell Zone. Quick cards, which are like traps except you, activate them from your hand, during you or your opponent’s turn, so instead of taking up space on the field, they take up space in your hand. Then there are finally Quick-Continues, which can be activated during either players turn, then placed in the Lasting Spell Zone.

Now another difference is the Energizer Zone. Energizer cards are like the heart to the game, you absolutely need these cards to win. Energizer Cards are just random cards in your hand that you place upside down in the energizer zone. Now in the upper-Right corner of all cards there is a number that represents how many energizer cards you need to use that card. You can have up to a maximum of 5 Energizer cards in your energizer zone (same with shield Cards). There are some cards though that require zero energizer cards, but those aren’t always the best. When you use an energizer card you turn it side-ways, in some other games that is called tapping, but I call it activation.

Now there is a summoning difference in this game. The word stays the same, mainly because I liked it, but there are no special terms like Special Summon, Fusion Summon, etc. Just Summon. Now you can summon as many monsters as possible in one turn if you have enough energizer cards, and as long as they are all different levels, ex. You cannot summon three LV.1’s in one turn, but you can summon one LV.0, and one LV.2. There are also no tributes unless a card requires it.

I do have 73 cards currently made, and I have made 13 different types. I did keep the basics like Warrior and Dragon, but what is a fantasy game without them. The entire List is as followed

Dragon

Warrior

Beast

Reptile

Phantom

Golem

Machine

Arcana

Fish

Angel

Demon

Bird

Insect

Plant

As you can tell I did take out some cards like aqua, Pyro, Sea Serpent, etc. I even took out SPELLCASTERS!!! Oh wait no I didn’t I just changed their name to Arcana (I wanted to be a little original) and dinosaurs, where are they? Well I just lowered the classification, and placed them in Reptile. And the attributes are called elements, just because.

Now on to battling. Battling is similar to Yugioh, but not identical, for there is only one set of points just referred to as points. Now there is only one purpose to points, seeing as how Life Points do not exist in this game, and that is to defend your shield zone, so points can and can’t be very important, but hey you don’t need a calculator for this game. My friends always complain that the “Super Powerful Monsters” only destroy one shield, and I said “Well duh if you have 3 shield cards and your opponent has 3 Super Powerful Monsters it would be an automatic loss if they destroyed more than one.” But I did have a sudden idea. There are cards which have a technical term called Dual Break and Trip Break. Only a selected few have these effects and they either destroy 2 or 3 shield cards when they attack the shield zone.

And finally on to the most important part of the game, WINNING! Winning the game can be pretty challenging at times, for to win you must take out all of your opponent’s Shields and then attack them directly (that is what the term direct attack means in this game).

So if you think I should follow through with this or you have some suggestions to make it better go ahead and say it, I don’t mind as long as it isn’t “Dude this is stupid, stick to playing real card games” or “Wow this is pathetic, go kill yourself.” or something around that area.

New Game = Fails.

Oh well, to bad your to pathetic to give me some advice to make it better but instead you just try and make yourself feel superior by saying my idea is bad, but sucks to be you because I just want to see what some others out there are thinking. This isn't the finished project, I know that it's the Magic: The Gathering Border because I'm using a program that unless I buy the thing I'm stuck with that, More than 50% of the people I know personally, and people I've met at Card Tournaments say that this is original, so all because you found some flaws in which aren't even flaws really just something that you found that were similar you think it is a bad idea, so I'll come back with this

Your life = Worthless

Okay everyone who says this is unoriginal I'd like to see you try and make a game, it is actually a challenge. Trying to think of rules, how to win etc. If you think you can make an original game I'd like to see you try.

As stupid as it sounds the only way for originality is to make it from something that has already been created.

the main problem is that since you know about yugioh, most custom card games will be just rip-offs of it,try not to mention anything that is related to yugioh besides (cards, names, attack, you know, things that other card games have too, etc.)

it seems quite good if more creativity was in it.

Its funny because nothing is original anymore. When you think of something, you have something else in your mind that gave you that idea. Now Dark Rose you have a pretty good card, I must be honest, but what are the rules? have you thought of them yet? Or did you just go find a picture, do something on Photoshop, and make it into that. I don't care if it is like yugioh, and Duel Masters put together. It has about 4 similarities to Yugioh and about 3 to Duel Masters. There are way more things about this game that I didn't even post and your complaining about unoriginal it is by the rules. I didn't even post half the stuff cause I wanted to see what you guys would think of it. I've thought this through more than anything. I've nearly perfected it, and all you guys look for is originallity that doesn't exist any more.
