Moderators should at least be literate, right?

I really don't care about the spelling of one word. If that's the game you want to play' date=' I can follow all of your posts and look for mistakes too. But I have more important things to do.

Not once did I ever claim to have perfect grammar.

It was never meant to accuse you of anything, or to disprove anything you said. If you took it that way, I'm sorry. I shan't correct your spelling ever again.

I can think of one good example of a moderator who typed perfectly and got his position revoked because he wasn't so good at other, more important things. Incidentally, that would be the topic creator.

While I'm all for good grammar, I couldn't help but find your opinion amusing. As I'm sure you realize, grammar skills aren't required to deal with a lot of problems that show up in the forum - locking, deleting, banning. That said, the only instance where a mod should be expected to post with perfect grammar is when considering he should set an example to other members. And while I completely agree with that, I find it ridiculous to deny anybody moderator status because he doesn't accomplish that particular goal. It's obvious to anybody capable of looking at it from a neutral point of view (which I doubt you're capable of at the moment) that there is a list of conditions that a moderator should meet, and seeing as the staff serves a practical purpose (that of keeping the forum running without problems), grammar skills should never come as a top priority in their selection.

Again, it'd be better if they all had good grammar, but it's not mandatory that they do in order to be acceptable mods.

Here's an idea:

1. Fire ALL the mods; don't take their powers' date=' unofficially fire them.

2. Remove ALL bias.

3. Use a reviewer who doesn't know ANY of the members.

4. Make anyone who wants to get a spot (or get one back) apply.

5. Include grammar, intelligence, experience etc. on the application sheet.

6. ????

7. PROFIT[/quote']

He wants a slice of the pie too.

Excuse me? Did you just insult my capabilities as a moderator?

I kept my forum in the best shape of any other forum on the entire website, and you think I FAILED at my job?

Also, for the last time, I'm a woman. Address me APPROPRIATELY.

I have already established that the vast majority of current moderators utterly fail in terms of leadership.

What is the point in maintaining an inefficient wad of idiots that are neither capable of communicating nor moderating properly?

It's little bit annoying and I took it like you were trying to take away from my point. My mistake. :/

Pics or it didn't happen.

Inefficient how? We take care of spam, we deal with rule breakers. And, I rather resent that you consider any of us to be idiots. Intelligence is knowing what to do with the knowledge you possess. I see no lack of intelligence with the moderation staff. A few short tempers, and some grammar errors sure, but nobody's perfect.

And, the point of "maintaining" the mod staff? Uh, let's see, we tidy up the forums, we help keep order, and, oh yeah, we clean up after immature, deluded ex-members who throw temper tantrums because they got banned and proceed to post spam all over.

Lastly, if you think the forum has so many problems then why do you stick around? You're free to leave whenever you want.

Sorry, and nope. I actually agree with your point. ^_^

You guys don't care; I do.

Don't attempt to prove otherwise; too many have said it too many times.

I like how you can go around spreading whatever lies you want about how much I or other mods care about the forum, yet we aren't allowed to even question your undying loyalty to YCM. I care more for this forum than you or anyone else could possibly know, but that doesn't mean I have to drive a wedge of perfection into everyone's wheels. This forum has functioned, is functioning, and will function just fine with it's current grammatical level.

I do admit that my English is not flawless' date=' though, as my native tongue is French and I don't speak English in my everyday life, but I try to give my best to improve and avoid using those semi-French neologisms.:P

If English isn't your native tongue, kudos for you for typing better than 90-ish percent of us English-speakers.

Those who have faultered..

Oh wait, thats you...

Look, get off it, basically all your threads have been directed at the moderation team. Get over it, or find another outlet.

I disagree with this thread, alot.

I do not think that Moderators should be required to have good grammar. Because not all of us have perfect grammar, we're all people, we all make mistakes sometime or another.

So why should Moderators have to be perfect at grammar, they are just members with some Moderation powers and a Group name other than "Registered". Saying they need perfect grammar is like saying that all of us need perfect grammar.

I'm not gonna read 5 pages on this topic, so I don't know if this has been said already or not but:

Personally' date=' I am sick of seeing poorly written on the forum,[/quote']

You are only one; you are nothing.

Considering you're pretty much alone in your struggle for above-average grammar being an essential asset of any mod, I think you fall on the same category.

Also, I will address you how I see fit, seeing as this is the internet and I don't really care if you're a man or a woman. No need to get jumpy either way, since it's not such a "serious business".

Now, you were ticked off about yet something else... oh yeah, my thinking you failed at your job. I am not online 24/7, so I'm not fully aware of why you got demoted, and I don't really care either... but something tells me it wasn't overpopulation in the staff team. Perhaps, you know, other people on this website had other criteria, which you failed to meet.

All in all, as other people have said, if you're unhappy about the moderator team, and feel they are a "wad of idiots" that "fail at leadership", there is at least one obvious solution, and it involves you releasing your frustrations elsewhere. If that doesn't suit your internet needs, Private Messages are also a lovely invention, as are IM and chat channels, where you can get in touch directly with the people you think are at fault.
